Looking for short Supertrapp slip on... It's about 10" total length with a 2" diameter inlet... will likely have 10 plates at 4" diameter..

Do you have one of these laying around that you want to get rid of?

Thanks-

If I had one, you could have it for shipping cost, but it was thrown out long ago. It was really loud while also being so restrictive that it blew out the packing, and its stainless hardware seized up even after having used anti seize. Ugh… but I’m over that.

If this is for the bec, why not make an insert for the 1x3 or a kick out underneath to baffle with 1 inch strips like a flowmaster?

This is for the Berkeley BEC-- I'm only flowing 800ccs, so I should be good on flow/ lack of backpressure/restrictiveness..

Finding and using one of these is an experiment of sorts.. I used this exact muffler on the N600-VFR build, and it resulted in a great sound, which I'm trying to replicate.. If I can't find one cheap, I may in fact go ahead and weld in a series of 1" strips at the rear of the car to somewhat emulate a flowmaster/ cut up the sound waves..

Whatever I do, it will be the 2nd silencer in series on the car as she's already got a CF 2-Brothers muffler under the hood, but I'd like to further take the edge off the the exhaust (at freeway speed in particular).. This may be a fool's errand, as I struggled with the same issue on the Honda build (to get it 'reasonably' quiet), so I thought I'd just seek out the same Supertrapp slip on and see if I can replicate that solution on this build with similar bits..

Fab a fine hardware cloth screen cap then pack some steel wool or fiberglass in the pipe and test.
Install the cap screen with the ends tucked into the pipe then use set screws through two sides of the pipe.
You can insert a steel tube in the center that extends deeper than the packing so it is unobstructed. Tack at the rear top and bottom then drill a couple holes through the 1x3 on the bottom to plug weld the tubes forward end in place.

I'm intrigued Miatav8, but I'm having a hard time picturing what you're trying to explain.. (For lack of clearance reasons, I'm working with a rectangle exhaust at 1x3")...

If you have the time and interest, could you draw/paint what you're describing?

Thanks-

You could make an insert more like a muffler but here is a quick easy fab.

One of many packing materials you could try:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FLK61M5/re ... s9dHJ1ZQ==

One type of screen you could use:

https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-3030cm ... 2YVH&psc=1

If using woven versus welded mesh, try creasing and folding the corners around to tuck in versus cutting because it will try to unravel. Use a friction disc in a die grinder or drill arbor to trim.

I was just reviewing your build. I'd forgotten about the turn down you added to the pipe. (On a side note, I see your new tank is the same as mine in the GO4).

This is another version that eliminates the need to buy special screens by using ¼ inch rod and no special machining other than drilling a few holes and notching the end to clear the rods.

Back pressure is adjustable without removing. Just drill some more holes around the slot.

The diagonal slot is important.

Ok.. so if I'm following you, the exhaust will (mostly) escape through the diagonal 3/8 (red) opening which is on the underside of the tailpipe, and some exhaust will also escape through the steel wool packing (that is stuffed up into the tailpipe) and out between the orange (1/4") bars... If it has too much backpressure, then just drill random holes on the underside of the tailpipe near the diagonal 3/8" opening (red)

Sound about right?

**also, the orange circle/dot on the sides of the tailpipe represents a 1/4 bar that goes 'across' the tailpipe and acts as a stop for the stuffed-in packing?

Exactly. You can uncork the exhaust with a single screw to remove the grate and wool if you ever feel the need.

Wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to clarify this... I'll experiment with this mod in a few weeks and post up here how it goes
