1990 Mazda Miata with 3 cylinder Suzuki engine. - $950 (East Jackson)

This was featured on Daily Turismo and has a huge build thread on Miata.net. But this thing is screaming to become a locost.

The amount of engineering and conversions he has done to put a 3-cyl Geo engine into a Miata is well worth the $950 asking price.

Jackson, Michigan

Disclaimer: I don't know this guy, just was honestly impressed and to be honest if my barn was done and I was ready for my build I'd seriously consider it.

No sheep, Sherlock! The wheel and brake and spindle parts we all know and love, an intriguing powerplant (a realistic Lotus Seven Series 2 driving experience) and the increased reliability of a twenty year old Japanese engine instead of a fifty year old British engine. I think its next scream would be for a Mk1 body; I'd expect 75 to 80 mpg with streamlining, three digit top speed, and when I get bored, a 1300cc twincam from a Swift GT* would be practically a drop-in. This is very tempting.

*Which I have already.

And then there is the 20G's! For a Locost? I hope he gets it.

And then a very reasonably priced car in TX.

Not mine, wish he were asking more as this complete car is close to my build budget.

Wow, a 3.0 Liter 4 banger? Is that an inboard/outboard motor or something?

Tom

They are GM marine/industrial engines built in the Mexican plant. They are indeed one of the engines used by MerCruiser, and others, for marine applications. They are carburated, or were, and used to be pretty ugly from an emissions perspective, although more recently emissions standards have come to the marine world too, which is what is driving the change to 4-stroke outboards, or use of EFI on the remaining large two-strokes.
