I'm pretty sure a 1962 Super 7 didn't have such lush upholstery. And only 170 miles? If true then $28k seems like a bargain. Didn't elaborate on the engine and no pic of it.

Since Lotus Sevens were originally available in kit form, I suppose it "could be" an original. No telling from the ad and highly suspect

This appears to be just a nicely modified s2 seven and maybe they are worth that now.
Besides the interior mods, the bonnet looks to be from the ‘70s due to the small scoop opposite the normal side, the standard wind wings and soft top have been removed but all the attachments remain, and the rear panel was cut to accept an external fuel filler. This was a 600 pound kit back then and the filler may have been an option. The exhaust looks original for the 109e cosworth 1340cc. If this were the 1500 cosworth 116e, it should have the full length exhaust, wood steering wheel, and vinyl top with quarter windows. The original tail lights should be single assemblies on each side. Does red acrylic darken due to uv or just age?

I am curious about cockpit width. As a CA resident, This car has some interest to me. It isn't my first choice of drivetrain, but otherwise looks good.

If it's a "Book" frame, which it appears to be, it will be 40" inside the frame rails, 42" OAW. Also keep in mind that although it has Cali plates, the car is in Kansas City.

I know it is in Kansas, but since it was originally registered in CA, it should have SB100 certification which means no smog in CA and could basically do anything to it at that point. I would probably leave it stock, but changing to a zetec, duratec, or miata powertrain isn't out of the question. I want to know if my butt will fit and I am curious exactly which Ford 2.0 SOHC motor it has under the bonnet. LIMA or CVH are the likely candidates.

I'm a big guy, 6', 265#, and I can fit in a book chassis car. Wouldn't want to do it for very long, but I DO fit. Russ has offered to check it out for anyone interested, so I would suggest taking him up on the offer! GOOD LUCK!

Fitting your butt in one depends mostly on the seats. My cockpit, although a +4 width chassis, is no wider than a book one. I 'tried on' several cars at one of the midwest gatherings. From a 44" wide Stalker to a not quite 40" Birkin. The Stalker and Leach had Kirkey style seats, the Birkin's seats were Porsche 914 based. I fit best in the Birkin. Very comfortable. So I went with 914 seats. They were much more affordable back when I bought them 10 years ago.

My suggestion would be to see what fits.

Best of luck!

$700 Fiberglass MGTD replica body in Michigan. Might work on a modified Locost frame?

Or if you want to keep things really simple, you could do an updated, stiffened ladder type chassis. That would keep things ultra simple.

Cheers,
