I am in Montreal and a buddy and I are in the planning and learning phase and we both are planning on building one.

Is there anyone in Montreal - Ottawa area or even northern Vermont or NY that has a finished Locost or near finished? I would like to take a gander at it.

We are very excited but a bit promiscuous.

Thanks and I'll keep reading.

Bob

Check out Ewhen, he has built several. He is close to needing shelves to keep them on. We have some other Canadian builders too.

I have been reading up on it in here. Apparantly Quebec doesn't like it and it is expensive to get an engineer to give it a thumbs up.

This is disappointing. The scenario is spend a year and a half building it and then cannot get it approved by the government.

I tried contacting Ewhen but the forums won't allow me until I get more posts I guess. Hoping this turns out better.

I just approved your second post and you should be good to go now. Ewhen has posted specifically about going thru the process in your area. He seems very helpful and knows a great deal
.

Thanks,

I have been reading and contacted SAAQ today. I would really like to see one in person. I seen Ewhen's youtube videos and read his posts. Looking forward to getting this started.

The documentation from the SAAQ stated I should submit a package to engineers for approval before starting to build.

May have changed since Ewhen has been there.
I am really itching to get this started. I built a CNC machine in my garage and have sold a bunch of wood stuff it cutout to fund it.

Thanks Horizenjob and Photoman
for remembering old man Eugene.
And welcome bevis to the club.
I repeat again,., that the Province
of Quebec might not be the most
ideal place to build hand-made
vehicles, but if one is willing to
follow certain rules it is not as bad
as it sounds.
I,ve (and my son)been always willing
to share our experience with new
builders, as well as asking help from
other people, with same passion.
Unfortunately all we hear here about
Quebec is "Engineer engineer engineer"
Bevis, do you have a 10X20 free space
a welder , hacksaw , measuring tape
and few bucks to buy tubing and donor,
that's all you need to start building an
interesting project.
Our humble place is always open to
serious builders.
Cheers Ewhen

PS. Horisenjob, it's GP F1 in Montreal
Vettel has pole for tomorrow race
Would have been nice to see You
in a FF race, although the G-W track
is not as good as Circuit Mont Tremblant.
Greets
Eugene.

Thanks Eugene,
(sent a PM)

I would love to see your Locost's.

I have two garages, one on my house and a shop with plenty of space. I have a 220 arc lincoln welder and a lincoln 220 mig.

Hope that will suffice. I have lots of patience. I built a CNC machine to help fund this project. That is fun working with that.
I was think of some parts I can make with it for the locost. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FadI53SivOg

Looking forward to getting started. Looking for a donor and gearing up to get this party started. Lots of great info and people on this forum. I feel humbled to be here.

Thanks,

Bob
