Hey Jacob - Medicine Hat was hot hot hot. We loved it. Took a trip to Elkwater and another to Fort Walsh. The Medicine Hat Clay Industries museum was very interesting. Temp was ~36C, like being hit with a blast furnace driving down the highway. The 7 L.S.O. didn't skip a beat in the heat.

Went on a 475km (295 mi) trip today. A bit smokey from the wild fires in BC and the Northwestern US. Found a train on a old siding in Wainwright that we believe is from the States. Wonder how it wound up this far North? Doesn't look like it has moved in quite a while. Overall it was a good day with iced cap coffee to cool down and good ol Chinese for supper. To date we have over 8000 km (5000 mi) on the 7.

Indeed, it's from the USA. It was named the "Black Widow" and used extensively in California, Oregon and Washington. Here are some photos of it in better times:

1) All prettied up in Oakland/Emeryville, California ==> http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 662&nseq=0

2) And, hauling passenger cars in the vicinity of Mt. Shasta in Northern California ==> http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 392&nseq=4

Cheers,

Took a trip last week to Jasper in the Rocky Mountains. What a blast driving mountain highways, hills, valleys, and switchbacks.

Wifey looking at the Columbia Icefields, it was a balmy 9C at that elevation.

As a side note one must plan for extra time on these trips for people you encounter who ask many many questions about the 7. I will always be pleasant and answer any and all questions. We will never turn down a request to have the 7's picture taken. We often ask people if they would like to sit in the 7 and have us take their picture for them, the smiles and grins are priceless.
This is the true experience of motoring in these amazing cars.

Hey Perry,
looking really good. Well not you, man. The car's looking great, the scenery is awesome, but you, well let's just say, don't sign up for Heartland (although they are auditioning right now, as my starry eyed daughter tells me). :rofl:
But you are a true ambassador for all that is Locost. :cheers:

Hey Perry,

I'm glad to see you're out enjoying the car and connecting with the beautiful Canadian scenery. The car is indeed looking excellent.

When did the plastic piece (I know what it's for, but not what it's called) appear between the seats? Did you improvise on the road or put that on before the trip?

Cheers,

Thanks Martin - the wifey and I truly believe in letting others enjoy the 7 as we do.

Lonnie - That is a rear windscreen to reduce wind turbulence (just like the Porshe Boxer S uses). I installed this piece of Lexan before the LSO 7 turned a wheel. I have this on the first 7 and it definitely works to minimize wind buffeting.

If you look closely at the pic below you can see the rear windscreens on both cars.

Drove to Red Rock Canyon, Waterton Park today. Feet away from a bear and big horn sheep with a car that has no doors make the trip quite interesting.

Hey, Perry. That place looks totally cool. And, what a nice runabout to tow behind your RV too.

Enjoy yourselves!

Cheers,

So I finally have my life back. I did what was called when I worked in the automotive shop 30 years ago a 'rip n tear' on the 'new to us' motorhome ( aka The Bus). You start at the front bumper and replace anything and everything necessary till you hit the back bumper. The beauty of a class a motorhome is that you can remove the front wheels and get at the engine from either side of the wheel wells with one hand tied behind your back :ack:
Anyhow The Bus is mechanically and cosmetically up to my standard now $2600 later.
Now here in Alberta we seem to be paying around $6CAN imperial gallon for go juice, so after dropping $290 at the gas pump we were full and ready for the maiden test drive pulling the 7 with trailer. Decided to go to a town about 65 miles from home that give us a good run with some good hills and valleys. Once there we stopped at Walmart for some groceries and the obligatory parking lot photo. Back to Holden and the gas pump to fill The Bus again to figure out what kind of mileage we get. Happy to report The Bus was getting 9 miles/gallon on this trip :cheers: , way better than I thought.
Next project wifey and I decided on is enclosing the trailer for 'piece of mind'. I may start a separate thread for that.
Anyhoo, we will be doing a bit of RVing and cruising this summer, then off to Palm Springs Cal with The Bus and 7 w/trailer in the fall for a couple or 4 months.
That's all I got.

Hey, Perry;

I wondered why you were so quiet, and now I know.

I'm sure you'll do something interesting with the trailer. It looks like your trailer bed is solid. I think most junk comes up off the highways, especially the right lane(s) where the big semi trucks travel. So, if you just figured out a fabric cover to go over the 7 that didn't beat it to death from wind. you might be OK. I do remember that very nice commercial sewing machine you have. That should handle anything you can think up.

Or, do you have it in mind to make an enclosure instead?

Cheers,

I had the same thoughts as Lonnie. You really need some sort of enclosed trailer what with all the weather you will go through plus the junk being thrown up from the road.

I'd wondered about those RVs and wondered if it would be worth it. Now I get to live vicariously through you and find out.

Took a day off from working on the trailer to go for a 140 mile cruise, perfect weather, 27C, 80F, and no wind.
It don't get any better.
