Unbeknownst to me a lot of the early history of the Chapparal was started less than 5 miles from me.

I accidentally stumbled upon one of the men who made the bodies and who worked on the original Corvair & Chaparral prototypes.

I have begun a Car Show & Tell in my neighborhood where we meet and array all the cars all over my front couple of acres and then talk about what we've got, what we're doing to it, getting help, and just plain having fun.

I have arranged for Chapparal Mark to come speak to us and August 9. He's got stories to tell and I've just found out a large number of pictures from a private collection that have never seen the light of day before. If any of you happen to be in the Fort Worth area and want to come you are welcome.

He's been working with a negative scanner to print 8 X 10s for us.

The shop that housed the prototypes burnt down and here are some never before seen pics of the prototype.

It's a shame the Corvair looked nothing like this. It'd still be being produced today.

In a way I guess this means the Chapparal was the mid engined Corvette that's often been rumored, but never produced.

"In a way I guess this means the Chapparal was the mid engined Corvette that's often been rumored, but never produced" [NOT A RUMOR] There was actually a hand full of prototype the mid-engine Vettes made. At that time, I worked at our testing lab that did a slow structural crush on one of the prototypes. Dave W

I'll definitely post more pics as I get them.

I hadn't thought of videoing his presentation, but I'll try to find a way to do that. He'll probably be talking for a couple of hours so that's beyond a phone's memory chips I'd think.

Oh... I was thinking of a 15 minute speech or the like. Couple of hours... Kinda hard to film... Pics will be nice...
