This is my second reminder to you all about the Midwest Se7en Gathering in Kansas City over Labor Day Weekend 2008. It is being held in conjunction with the Kansas City All British Car and Cycle Show. See the link at http://kcallbritish.tripod.com/index.html. Sevens of all types are going to be the “Guest Marque” for the show.
On Saturday, August 30, there will be a nice long tour of the local twistys with stops at some of our local attractions. That night we will have a Se7en’s only BBQ and B/S session at my house. On Sunday morning, the 31st, the car show starts with awards presented around 3pm. The Se7ens class will have three sub classes in it each with special 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. The first sub class is Original Lotus 7’s and Caterham’s, second is “Kit 7’s” like Westfield’s, Birkin’s, Ultralight’s, etc. and the third class will be Locost Homebuilts. These places will be determined by popular vote by Se7ens Class entrants. In addition to these awards there will also be 1st through 3rd place for the entire Se7ens class that are voted on by the entrants to the British car show. So it is quite feasible to get two awards in the same show. The T-Shirts that are given out at the show will also have a Lotus Seven on it as part of the show logo this year. Entry fees for the car show and tour should be around $30. BBQ fees have not been determined yet.
If you are interested in attending this event please email me, Russ Amos, at trialsman@kc.rr.com. Even if you are in the process of building a Se7en or are seriously contemplating a build, you are welcome to come. I know this seems early but I am trying to get a better idea of the number of people coming. So far there are five that said YES and about twelve that said MAYBE. If you have already contacted me about this event, please do so again so I will have your email address in my records. Russ

Here is the current count of the group. Remember all that is on the list will not come to the event (I know of at least two). I would expect only 50 to 60% will actually come but I hope more will show up. Russ

I have it on my calendar. If gas is less than $5 by then, I'll probably be there. Hopefully with a car! :-)

Well I'll be dipped. I just looked on my calendar, and the folks who printed it marked Labor Day Weekend for me already! I think it's an omen.

So if diesel is less than $5 a gallon by then, I'll be there too. And with a car, no less, since it's too far to walk.

Well it is three weeks till the Midwest Se7ens Gathering here in Kansas City on Aug 29-30. We have eleven Se7ens that have said they are coming plus several others who do not have cars ready yet. So it is still not too late to get on the bandwagon. The famous (or infamous) Jack McCornack with Kinetic Aerospace will be there to talk about his X-prize diesel powered Se7en (Sorry his car will not be there. Still being rebuilt after his accident). There will be all types of Se7ens to look at and maybe even getting a ride in. So plan on being in KC. Festivities start Friday 8/29 with free drinks and socializing at my house in Shawnee 7-10pm. Then Saturday 8/30 a breakfast (pay as you go) at Sharpes Restaurant in KC 7:45-10am. From there we start our Blat at KCI airport approx. 10:30am till about 2pm, with a stop over in Weston, Mo for a pay as you go lunch. After that we have a BBQ at my house in Shawnee BYOB. 4pm-??? Still working on a price but it won't be much. More on that later. And then the crowning jewel on Sunday 8/31 The Kansas City All British Car Show at KCI Marriott. The Se7en will be the featured marque of the show. 8-10:30 Registration, 10:30-noon Voting, 1pm Motorcycle Observed Trials Riding Demo, 3pm Awards presentation. So if you are interested in coming and you are not on my mailing list please contact me at trialsman@kc.rr.com. Thanks Russ
