How much tubing? Here is the cut list for the book chassis. http://www.mcsorley.net/locost/drawings/BookChassis.xls 1/8" PLATE 32 sq. in. 1" SQ. 16ga 1210.00 in. 3/4" SQ. 16ga 294.20 in. 3/4" OD 16ga 290.75 in. 110-ish feet of 1"x 1" 16ga tubing if you don't plan on making mistakes, more if you do. You will need 25 ish ft feet of 3/4"X 3/4" of 16 ga RHS and 25 ish ft feet of 1" 16ga Round tube. The book suggests 16ga which is .065 thick and comes in at .649 lbs/ft. Multiply these numbers by 110 to get a chassis worth of tubing and you get: 16ga chassis:71.39lbs Note this number is only for 110' of 1"x1" tubing ... not welded, no 3/4" tubing, no 1" round tubing, no floor, no roll bars, no brackets, or suspension pickup points! I just tried it and it did work for me. If it stumbles again, click on "plans on the left side of the page and find the "cut list" in the second paragraph. walt |
