Post subject:  PLEASE READ: The value of good titles on LocostUSA.com

Just wanted to remind everyone to give an informative title when they start a new topic.
Lately it seems like we get a variety of titles that don't give much of a clue about the content of the thread and it get's a little old after a while.

So please guys, give your threads an informative title, it's easier for other folks to search for answers that way and serves you better too.

Thanks,

The management

Good point, Moti.

Here's the type of titles/subjects that will not draw in the readers who can answer your questions:
  • "Newbie Question"
  • "Hit a snag"
  • "Finally starting"
  • "How much is too much?"

Those titles might be rewritten as follows, which are MUCH MORE LIKELY to get the answers/readers you are looking for:

  • "How much preload on the coilovers?"
  • "Can't figure out how to route headers..."
  • "Jerry's 350 small block book frame build"
  • "How wide a tire can I put on a 442E frame with a Pinto axle?"

Like Moti said, not only will this help you reach the people you need to reach, it will help the guy three years from now researching tire sizes or small block Chevy builds, etc.

Thanks for bringing this up, Moti.

My favorites are ....

"My Locost"
"Getting Started"
"[Fornicating] Horses" (no actual horses, as pointed out by some....)

Only one of those are descriptive...I like the idea of making the titles more descriptive. Helps with the search and helps with the readability of the posts.

My alltime favorite is the idiot at my work who sends out a general email with the title "Reminder".

Post subject:  Re: The value of good titles - PLEASE READ!

Seems we've had a lot of new threads lately with titles like, "Has this been done before?" I try to edit these to flesh them out a bit, but I can't do as good a job as you can, as the original poster.

As a reminder, PLEASE give some specific indication of the meat of your thread in the title.

If you're not sure what that means or why that's a good idea, scroll up and read the first two posts in this thread.
