So, was given a set of '53 Chevy truck spindles. Nothing wrong there, save my wheels are all 4x114.3 or 4x100, and noone makes rotors for the spindles with that bolt pattern.... any thoughts?

Amen to that!...
I can attest to the draw and the dark side of free parts as the owner of the world's most expensive "free" Alfa Spider rear axle.
I had designed around a Toyota rear originally, so all of this pain is self inflicted...but the Alfa aluminum differential housing looks so nice.
Rebuilt the limited slip and replaced the bearings...wow, Alfa parts are really, really expensive.
Had custom axle tubes and axles made to fit my chassis width and already finished differential location...wow, custom axles and axle tubes are really expensive.
Having machine shop make the custom bearing retainer/Miata brake caliper holder...OK, that wasnt too bad. One of these days I might even get my parts...so many excuses.
Remake the driveshaft..."what do you mean, this costs as much as the first time? its halfway done!" "blah, blah, blah"...."grrrr, ok..." Not too bad, but still the better part of a C-note.
And I still need to trim some of the fins on the diff housing since it is sort of tight where it enters the tunnel.
Paul (if I ever do this again, it is a one car donor...)

Might not be a loss in the end. Wife's step dad offered to lathe them down to Mustang II size.

If that doesn't work, just grind the part numbers off them and sell 'em to Cheapracer as '54 models!

They were used on the Chevy trucks for a solid axle, but have been used for double wishbone applications as well with a basic adapter.

I believe that this is what they look like - courtesy of Speedway. Is their principal (only) virtue their shortness? The adapters necessary to put ball-joints in the king-pin hole might lead to a less than elegant solution. Any number of the more commonly used IFS spindles would be a cleaner solution.

There were IFS suspensions that used this type of spindle, if not this very one, with the king-pin ends carried by a separate upright attached to the A-arms by trunnions - definately a triumph of development over design.

Yup, that is it. I was going to cast the adapter if I use them. Still a big "if" right now. Found a set of mustang spindles or could cast a set. Still debating. Still have the frame to finish first.
