that is not the king pin inclination, the king pin inclination is viewed from the front.
you are correct in saying that is the steering axis, but remember that this axis is dependant on the caster used and as long as the ball joints are free to move through their travel up and down, left to right without binding, then a little adjustment to this is possible.
you can even off set the ball joint in the "a" arms at an angle to achieve more.
Thanks John,
Do you have any notions about a fixture I can use to measure both KPI and castor with just the parts mounted outside the car? I was earlier thinking of mounting them to a flat plat or heavy piece of plywood, but I can see advantages to mounting the ball joints instead. I was thinking if I can get the spindles to rotate on the ball joints in a totally horizontal fashion I will have the natural KPI and zero castor for the assembled established, but I'm not sure about that.
I have no measurements of any kind. It's pretty much a unique setup, so I want to figure that data all out for input into VSUP first (find some approximate settings first) and then use the 3D suspension design program I purchased to do the detailed studies. I have no engineering data at all and have gotten no response from the maker or retailer of the SAI kit, so I need to do it myself.
I'm certainly open to ideas.
Cheers,
