Thanks, Steve. On the SketchUp model I found it's 30 degrees and I guess I expected it to be closer to the KPI. Is there any chance that your gauge is reading 24 degrees? I'll fix the SketchUp model and send it back... |

OK, this time I used several pieces of wood that were run through a table saw at the same time so I know the opposite faces are pretty darn close to parallel. Assuming the table is flat, I actually come closer to 18 degrees. If you look at foxk56's Solidworks models http://locostcadfiles.wikispaces.com/, he has 19 degrees. OK, now I see how to read your gauge. Thanks. I don't have solidworks, but I suppose there are other programs you can view Fox56's model's with. His look so much better then mine it's distracting, makes we want to spend time learning how to draw better instead of working on my car (virtually ). |

Too bad only SketchUp Pro allows you to import *.dxf and *.dwg files as I have converted Fox56's Solidworks models over to AutoCAD solid models. Anybody on the forum running SketchUp Pro? You can download eDrawings from Dassault Systems to view Solidworks files. Or if you want I can generate a 2D drawing of the upright and dimension it out. Shouldn't take more than half an hour or so. |

I finally got around to weighing the Spitfire and Miata's front uprights. Just under 10% less for the Spitfire. I thought it would have been more.... |

I would have sworn I saw a weight near 9 lbs. somewhere here on the forum for the Miata. It seemed reasonable since the Pinto spindles come in there. Oh well. The Spitfire units commonly have an extension welded on the bottom to replace the trunion threads. The Miata could use that too, but I haven't seen it done. So your preference might come down to how easy they are to modify and the geometry you get after that. The Miata has something like a 27 degree tilt to the bottom BJ connection, so it may rapidly lose KPI while being extended. That might be OK, but would work better if the WMS was closer to the steering axis. |

These things are as hard to weigh as engines The nuts and bolts add up to a surprising amount on my Spitfire uprights for the FF. Sometimes there is a spacer too. |

I'll weigh the Spit-bit front uprights from my Europa when I pull it apart to go over everything, but it will probably be months before that gets to the top of my list. |

it really doesn't help to know the hight of an upright if you don't include the ball joints, does anyone have the dimension vertically for a stock mustang 2 upright, from the center of the ball to the center of the ball with the spindle horizontal, not the drop spindle from wilwood or their standard spindle which are half an inch taller than standard spindles. |
