Howdy All.
I'm another Reverse Trike builder that turns up here now and then trolling for front suspension help. In the hunter/gatherer phase now and I have a pair of 1984ish Fiero spindles I'm using. I've been searching your board and came across a good bit of reference but my ideal plan is to find a suitable threaded shank tierod source to use for the upper ball joint on a double wishbone/coil over scheme. That would give me camber adjust. Pretty sure the spindle's hole is a common 1.5"/ft taper. Hoping someone has worked this out already.

TIA, Mackie

No specific knowledge but a joint to look at (and was used in a different application) Is an Econoline tie rod end (I don't know what year or tonnage).

You are basically looking for a very short rod end with the right stem.

As an alternative.
Look in the Speedway catalog, you can actually assemble a joint.
And use rod ends for the inner pivots and get both camber and caster adjustments.

Moog Part number es419R fits well and is what I am using. Used on mid 1968 and newer beetles. If I remember correctly it is a 14mm thread.

Try this Moog web site---

There is a problem with that page. You cannot get the taper because they don't give the length between the two taper dimensions.
Am I missing something?

Yeah, I've been to the Moog site and Fred's right. They give nice specs on minor and major ends of the stud taper but without the distance between you can't calculate the taper degree.

Thanks WelderLee. I have a pair of those tierod ends in the garage right now in a `69 Karmann Ghia. Who knew?

14mm i.e. 9/16" shank seems kind of light duty to me. I guess if it's suitable for a 7 it'll be OK for a 3 wheeler with a Kawasaki 1500cc V-Twin built for very moderate street use. I'll buy Moog for quality and bury most of the threads in the A arm end leaving only minimum for camber adjust.

Thanks for the help everybody
