So, I'm sitting here with a good old Moog ES2074R, otherwise known as a Ford Courier tierod end. That's the one Kinetic recommends as an upper ball joint.

It *looks* like the centerline of the ball pivots on the centerline of the threaded shank - the shank and ball housing are offset - but I remember a flap among the stock car guys a couple-three decades ago when they found out the pivot points of several commonly-used ball joints weren't where they thought they were.

Is there a good non-destructive way to determine the pivot point? If I have to fire up Mr. Angle Grinder I'll do so, but I have the same problem with the lower ball joints and the tierod ends, so that would be at least three joints I'd have to sacrifice.

Take pictures with the ball at the extremes, then extend lines on the pics down the center of the shaft. Where they cross, presto.

That's starting to look like the best way.
