I missed this thread so a different idea may be too late.

Do you winch the car in? Another way to look at the problem is to build something like a wooden hump for the front wheels to go over. It could be a curve or just an angled hump. The hump goes on the inside of the trailer. This works better for a formula car or a Seven type because they don't have bodywork behind the front wheels which would have a clearance problem going over the hump.

Marcus

I was trying to avoid building anything that would take up space in the carpeted living quarters or have to be lifted on and out.

I recently bought a set of curves aluminum ramps that might work. Something like these http://www.homedepot.com/p/Werner-Alumi ... lsrc=aw.ds
I have not tried them yet but they should let me go really low on the ride height and still get onto the trailer.

This trailer on you tube is based on a concept introduced by Ruby Owen in the early sixties for loading plant and machinery. It would be simple to copy the system and fit to an existing trailer,no ramps are needed :) Original Ruby Owen trailers used hydraulics not pneumatics .

Does the seven ride in the rear of the trailer after it is loaded? You could leave the internal ramps in place.

It's the same idea Andrew mentioned on page one of this thread, but they could be arches instead of straight.

Good luck, my next suggestion is a miniature fork lift that looks like a half scale Seven.

I used to haul my locost on a borrowed 18' flat deck with a 2' beavertail that made loading a real pain. I ended up using some heavy planks as ramps and if I ran the planks to the top of the beavertail I had enough clearance to get over the hump. I only had to get hung up on it once to decide I needed a better system that the short ramps that came with the trailer. The boards I used were about 3.5" thick, 10" wide, and maybe 10 or 12' long. After loading the car, I slid them underneath the car before strapping it down. I would be willing to bet that something similar could work for you too. That is if the jack system doesn't work out for you. Now that I have my little tilt deck trailer my car is way nicer to load. I left the center of the deck open and there's no cross members at the back either, so no more nose clearance issues either.
