Don't you hate it when you have ideas that you know are all sorts of bad, but just can't seem to get them out of your head anyways?...And then somebody has the gall to go and validate them!

TVR built an engine from sheet metal as well. I suppose it makes sense on a limited production run.

So Pete Aardema is still doing his thing? I spoke to him last back in 2006, when I was looking to replicate his DOHC SBC idea. That guy is a genius... or a lunatic... but mostly a genius. ;)

I've met and talked with this guy a couple of times at the Del Mar Nationals. Locosters would really like him. He is extremely innovative and builds very effective cars for the dry lakes and salt out of hand-me-downs and things he creates entirely on his own. He is usually at the the S.C.T.A. (http://www.scta-bni.org/) display with one of his vehicles or one he's had a hand in designing and building.

Here is one he did with a young guy who started with his mom's hand-me-down, Olds Toronado as the basis for the streamliner, which uses the Toronado FWD setup. It did 238+ MPH. Not bad, eh?

Here's a little update from the 2015 Del Mar Nationals. I guess this comes under the general descriptor of "Bigger, badder, longer, lower wider" or something like that.

The display was just sitting there all by itself with no one in attendance, so the only info I have is what's on the sign. It's obviously not finished and running, but their target date is on the sign at lower right.

I did see a nice example of his older SBC conversion though.
