So I realize it's been a while, but does anyone have a 7 degree reamer they'd be willing to lend out? I'd have it back to you within a week and will gladly cover shipping. I have to ream out a set of spindles for the upper and lower Chrysler ball joints from Speedway Motors.

Somebody makes a tapered shim to adapt a 7 deg balljoint taper to a 10 deg hole. You can go one way but not the other.

I don't need to change the taper of the hole, just the size of it.

I still need to do the same. I can't imagine buying a reamer for a minute or 2 of work.

If I bought a 7 degree reamer would people be willing to pay a few bucks to rent it? Just to help spread the cost of the tool for everyone? I'm not trying to be greedy here or make money, I just have a tight budget :S

Another question, to be sure I've got this right: I ordered the upper and lower Chrysler screw in ball joints:
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway- ... 38296.html - upper
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway- ... ,3523.html - lower

Are they both 7 degree tapers? The lower ball joint looks like it's the same taper, but on the Speedway website it recommends the 10 degree taper.

It should measure (roughly) less than 1/2 an inch at the tip and a little over an inch at the bottom if I remember correctly. If you want to rent it out I'll be glad to cover shipping and anything else you think is fair; if you want to sell it let me know how much and I'll buy it outright from you.

EDIT: Yup, that's it! Would you be willing to rent it out or sell it to a broke locost-er?

I saw where the 4x4 crowd were using the Snap On R121 reamer. They claim it is a 7" taper and it can be had fairly cheap. I found it for $55 or so plus shipping.

Holy dooley, I just bought another one yesterday here for $15, that being a 14mm to go with my 18mm that wasn't much dearer. No wonder you guys are looking to share them. If interested I'll spec up the ones I got and send them at my cost price probably $20. They come 2 tapers to a set, one for roughing out fast and a finishing one and boy are they fast, I use my press drill and it's like cutting into butter (I pre-drill a hole).

Any chance anyone here might have one of these I could borrow/rent to flip the tie rods on my Miata uprights? I'm located in Blacksburg, VA if it makes any difference.

Thanks!
