Well, interesting thing, the lifters kept tapping after a few minutes. Hooked up the oil pressure sender, 0
!! Pulled the dizzy only to find the oil pump drive shaft was missing. Fortunately i have a spare engine, pulled the shaft and viola no more tapping and 50 psi, whew.

It's been a long time since I have updated my build log so here goes.
Fabbing side panels, painting the nose and scuttle etc. One issue I ran into was that since I am using the side panels with gills I will need to get the hood bent up prior to mounting the front portion of the sides. Of course I have to mount the rear portion of the sides before the fronts. It's a never ending cycle, or so it seems.
Just to let those that are in the wiring stage know, there is an end to it all. Though it can be a pain at times.

You will notice in the above pic that the throttle body is set directly over the valve cover. This makes the engine very tall. I set about the task of routing the turbo and throttle body around the front.


I have also been working on the dash. Still needs to be wired up but the hard part is done.

Hoping to get the sides on this week, with the front and rear suspension to follow. Cross finger that I find some time to update next weekend.

First drive!!
I found several issues that need to be addressed.
Brakes, well lets just say there must be some air in the lines.
Engine needs a bit of a tune. I guess that the dizzy wanders a bit.
Alternator does not charge
There is a mis-alignment in the belt
All in all I was very happy with the outcome. After a few tweaks I might go out onto the big road.

Absolutely great Tim, I kind of envy you guys down there that seem to be able to take your car out on the road for test drives.
Around here if a tire dips into the street you are busted, just for having no insurance, let alone no vin.
In fact I have a neighbor that reports any body to the city for the most minor of offences and I know that they are hoping I might sneak mine out under the cover of darkness so that they can do just that. Sometimes I am tempted to build a small trailer just to haul the car somewhere and blast around a bit.

Thanks Al. I live on a cul-de-sac in a bit of a rural location. If one neighbor reported another we would all be in trouble.

The plan was to drive it in a parade in a few weeks. I'm not sure that will happen but I'm hoping to be on the road in the next couple of months. I just started on a large project at work that will likely eat up quite a bit of my spare time. So I will only have weekends (Saturdays really) to get things done.
Fortunately here in Florida they use The SEMA process for registering custom cars so the process is supposedly a bit less painful.

It does sound like a good idea... Southeast would be good. Keep me posted, we can work on something either later this summer or maybe early fall.
