Hi everyone,
I am building a locost and I really want it to have a GSXR-1300 engine on it. I need the engine to be brand new zero miles (any year model) and a couple of months ago I found some 2009 model were available from a company called Superbikes International, however, their website seem like it does no longer exist. I've finished the chassis and im getting stuck due to the lack of engine. Has someone any idea where could I find it?
I appreciate any suggestion.

Why does it need to have zero miles?

I know of a local dealer that still has a brand new 2007 SV650. Thanks to the economy, you might be able to find something similar with a little calling.

A quick "google" found that Superbikes International is currently doing business on eBay. You might drop them a line and ask if they still have the engine you want. It also found telephone numbers and a street address in Charlotte NC. So you could call them if the phone is still connected. However, if they have dropped their website and are beginning to fall off the face of the web, then perhaps they may not be around for any warranty work or refunds if it ever comes to that. YMMV.

IIRC, for the DP1 original prototype car he ended up buying a new Hayabusa and completely parting it out.

that is a helluva lot of money for a 180 hp engine..... you can buy a brand spanking new ls3 crate engine for that ammount..

Not with a 6 speed tranny, and it won't rev as high or weigh as little.

that is true, that is why I went for a used gsxr1000 K6 for about 2.5 grand..

however, for a bit beefier builds, there is a lot to be said for a 480 HP V8 for 6.5KUSD...

I have a factory new Gen I Hayabusa engine available. It was taken out of a new bike at the dealers so the the buyer could use his race engine.

Thank you all for the ideas. I need the engine t be zero miles because I am currently living in Bogota,Colombia. The actual laws prohibit used autoparts to enter the country for road purposes. There are about a dozen Radical cars and other hayabusa BEC in the city but they're all just for the track. I want my locost to be road legal thats why I need it that way.

Yahshuatwo were you able to check on Superbikes Int'l? I've tried emails but they all bounce back to me.

I've checked out the Muzzy's ZX-14 crate engine which seems like great option, it has 185hp and is cheaper than what superbikes offered for a 2009 new hayabusa. Im only concerned to how durable would this engine be on a car, I know the suzuki handles very well as they are tough and durable, I've never heard of anyone where I live that has broken one of this.

Chet i'm really interested in the engine youve got. Is it complete (wiring harness, ecu, throttle body, etc)? please give me your email or a contact # so we can arrange a deal.

ZX-14 seems very nice, I'd look for a oilpump an a new pan for cornering speeds

I missed your reply and I haven't looked into superbike international but will make a conscious effort this week

It appears that Superbikes International went out of business the 1st Oct 11th.. If the phone and web site are disconnected, why bother driving to unknown address. Besides, the latest buyer feedback for SPI on ebay is atrocious! If anyone wants a good reputabable bike shop that can get you an engine try http://www.leesperformance.com here in Charlotte, NC. I've built a fairly good repoire with the owner Lee Schierts. He's one of the best gixxer tuners in the U.S.
