Would this work or is the diff just too big. It is a racing quick gear change rear end on a late model dirt chassis.

I would have to change the sleeves and modify to put the diff in the middle cause it is really offset for the dirt chassis.

What are your thoughts? Was thinking on a ranger and use these spindles hubs and diff. I can get this and all the spindles, hubs, rotors for 1200.00.

Too big, no.
Way too much, yes.
Advantage, little to none.
Are you planning to use leafs?
Straight cut gears are noisy.
Where are the front hubs, rotors, calipers, mounts, etc?
By the time it is all complete, restored, and usable, you may spend another $1200.

A running donor with usable front and rear suspension can be had for $1200 and driven home.

Don't walk away, RUN!

Looks really cool, but I have to agree, overkill for just about any Locost.

I'm not much of a restoration expert, but by time you clean up a rusty spindle pin would it even have a chance of being within tolerances to mount the bearings on? I thought that was usually a pretty precision interaction.

That's awesome but $120, rather than $1200, will also buy you a sufficient rear end for your needs.

Fail only on the economics so it's a decision based on your buying power and your need for bling.

Nobody else thought of the Sir Mix a Lot tune? C'mon guys Sufficient rear end?

I can live with that. I thought I would bring it up because I hear 150.00 rear end 200.00 tranny 300 .00 motor toyotas....... but in reality here at least toyota motors are going ro 1,000.00 , 1000.00 or more for tranny and diff. Not as cheap as I am hearing....... I am having a hard time trying to find toyota for donor. I now have someone that will help me get the back half the drive train at least. and I guess I will get a motor out of a FWD car and maybe the spindles will work also along with other thingies....

Just trying to get things together. I had that offered to me by a friend. No bling happening here.

The spindles might be different height on the left and right, that's common for an oval track car. New Pinto spindles are only about $75 in the catalogs. The rear end is worth something. Check the prices on the wide five hubs. I think the fronts are around $100 for the Pinto spindles.

Everybody has to start somewhere and there is a good amount of luck involved in what you find. So good luck!

It looks to be a quick change rear end which is really cool, but there are other things to consider like the hub to hub width. It may be too wide or too narrow to be able to be used. I would check that first.

It is a dirt chassis and the diff is really offset. No biggie just have to change shaft and sleeves to what ever dimension I want. But I have been talked out of it.
