There is damage to the nose, hood, radiator, and front suspension. The right rear wheel hub bolts were sheared away from the DeDion tube, which you can't see from the photos. The engine starts and runs as perfectly as it did before the accident, the transmission is fine and the LSD appears unharmed.

I have a friend who almost bought this, but I think I talked hom out of it. Not intentionally. Very nice car, but it rolled and it looks like it would be a major project to put back on the road.

Widow of builder selling this. She claims she posted her before, so this might be a repeat. She says she must sell "immediately." $5000 beginning bid, "reserve not met."

I make no judgement on this car, just saying it's on eBay.

****************************

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... OTORS:1123

2007 Locost Replica of 1957 Lotus Seven
Saturn engine 1420cc, DOHC, twin choke Weber carb, Toyota 4 speed automatic transmission.
engineer fabricated chassis/supension to Locost spec
42" body width
leather seats, radio, tonneau cover, good tires,
trailer included

On Mar-01-12 at 05:12:05 PST, seller added the following information:

Okay, here's most everything I can tell you. I am the widow of the man that built the car. It was not made from a kit. The space frame chassis was constructed of 1” square 16 gauge steel tubing. All TIG welded. The original was 40" wide, but he built it a little wider for comfort.
The nose and front fenders are fiberglass, the rest metal. It sat for four years while he couldn't drive it. The carburetor has been cleaned out and it runs well. I've had it on the road this week.
From his notes: the engine is a 93 Saturn twin cam, the transmission and wheels are from a 81 Toyota Cressida, the rear and brakes from a 76 Toyota Corolla, the master cylinder is a Girling 3/4 TRS, power brakes Girling AHCS.
The only defect is a small crack in the windshield. The weight is 1420 pounds.
The title is clear and in my name. It is not presently registered. The photo taken on concrete was taken last week.
A friend who is 6'4" says that there is plenty of leg room.

Looks like a Mazda MZR (aka, Duratec) for $900, no harness, free shipping to loading dock. Don't say I never did nothin' fer ya. So far I'm resisting the little "Buy it!" voice, but I make no promises.

Speaking of Volvo donors. ....

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/2926011344.html

Quote:
1974 volvo, 183,980 miles on the engine. Needs a battery otherwise it runs just fine. The interior is fine except for the drivers side, the panel is missing the the window needs to be replaced eventually (basically just a window shaped piece of hard plastic). The car itself needs slight body work and a paint job. Besides this, the car runs absolutely fine and I will be willing to sell it for 600$ to the first person to bring a battery, it would save me a lot of time.

The car is not registered, but does not need to be smogged because of it's model date.

Please only call if you are serious about buying, the pictures below show it's condition, if you need to see more of it text me a time you would like to come see it and I will give you the address.

Phone:
(415) 2 6 9-7861
