I wasn't going to read this because I figured I was whole nuts already. I knew they made a bunch of different kinds of nuts, but that list is amazing. They not only make a whole bunch of different nuts, they make a bunch of combinations of nuts. I thought the "rotating flange nuts" were interesting. The washer is attached and rotates, so you never have extra washers left over after rebuilding or fixing something...

A great resource for all kinds of things. One thing I bought early on from them was several bags and boxes of weld nuts, in all sizes from #10 through 7/16". Very inexpensive. I used over a hundred of them on my chassis, making everything easy to remove and install.

Two items I didn't expect to see where nuts with left and right threads and also nuts with only threads on one side of the nut. You have to go look at the link to see what they are used for...

I'll look for the weld nuts.

McMaster Carr is one of my favorite hardware suppliers. They gots one of everything!

I got the flat-headed machine screws and those clip-on nuts they call "J Nuts" for the Slotus bodywork there. I got tool box latches for the hood from there. (Haven't actually built a hood yet, but I got latches!)

Another nice thing for me is they have warehouses in ATL area gets stuff to me the next business day for standard rates!

What's not to like?

Have you tried one of those "trans-shipment" services, Warren? I know folks in B.C. use them. American vendors ship to Blaine, Washington and a service picks up the shipments there and takes them across the border into Canada. I know they exist, but don't have any company names or know about handling customs issues, etc. Also, some folks just drive down and pick their stuff up in Blaine themselves. How close are you to the border?

I use McMaster-Carr a lot. My local hardware store has an excellent collection of bolts and nuts, including Grade 8 and Metric, but its a neighborhood store and they can only carry so much. M-C has a major distribution center in the Los Angeles area and a regular shipment gets to me usually the next day. If you do 3D models as I do, it is also nice that they have many items in common formats like STEP, IGES and Solidworks. Their product descriptions, including geometric data, are usually excellent too and that allows you to design without having the parts in hand, and see if they will work for your situation.

Lonnie, do you know about Marshall's on Miramar Rd? For hw they're pretty amazing, and almost always have what you need if you run out on a weekend.

I have friends who use these transhipment services - I should investigate. I am a five-hour drive (each way) from the nearest US entry point (Calais, Maine) so 'popping down' myself to a post-box address would not be cost effective.
