Hi all,
I'm going to start my 2nd seven build. A hard top/gull-wing Stalker with auto tranny. I got some ideas from Donks. The car will be an all weather cruiser, not like my current car.

What auto trans are you going to use? I had considered this but couldn't find one that I thought would fit.

For those of you having a fit over the idea of an automatic in a seven, the L67 Stalker can be driven pretty much all day on any public road, and most autocrosses using only third gear (Dennis talks about leaving 50ft strips of black rubber launching on slicks in third gear). Getting rid of the clutch would allow some much needed space for a dead pedal.

Craig, I'm considering the 3.1-3.4 V-6s from Cameros and Firebirds. My Aunt has one and I need to check measurements on. I haven't decided if I'll run a carb or a DIY EFI. The yellow seven has an '05 Yamaha R1 with paddle shift. Its quick  but difficult in town. I believe the newer trannies are shifting faster and becoming more efficient than the old ones.

The tires demounted and wheels painted black. The rearend checked needs a front seal. All parts cleaned and painted with hammered Rustoleum. I need some wood for a frame table and order tubing.

I spent a little time the other day cutting frame tubes. Today built the table and cut some angles and welded. I also cut my mounting brackets and tubes. The frame looks very small for a V6.

I went to Autozone and bought 2 packs for the rear. Look for sway bar end links kit in the poly bushing section. 2 bushings per end, 1 1/4" O.D. tubing is a snug fit, use a 3/8" bolt. I don't worry about a steel liner its only a 1000-1500# car. They been working out great in my car, no play or squeaks.

Finished the top A-arms, all suspension pcs are square tubing, its hip to be square.

It took a while to find a motor and tranny. A '87 Buick Regal, 231 V6.
We pulled it last week, its mounted in and boxxed the tranny and driveshaft tunnel today. The steering column was set it place to check general location.

Its easier the second time around... only 35 days so far, about 2-3 months ahead compared with the first build.

Andrew--your car is looking great and coming along so fast! I'm starting to think about maybe going the V6 route too. What chassis design/plans are you using?

Joe
