I made a tool to form the radius. I'll be selling the tool in various sizes for under $100 and tubing was $0.88 a stack for the 1.508" ID tubing I used. It's .059" thick if I remember right. Thin enough to form. Thick enough to weld. It's T6 aluminum. Hard stuff. Didn't have to anneal it either. :)

I made these velocity stacks last week. No lathe required. :)

OK, I'll bite: How?

I've been watching some youtube stuff on metal spinning a set and I do have a lathe to do it with but nothing about spinning seems simple without a fair number of mistakes first.

Thanks,
Alex

If you have a lathe, create the internal shape of your stack on a piece of solid. Support that on a bearing that can be held in your endstock. Offset the endstock and begin inserting the shaped rod into the tubing so it rolls the edge of the tubing as it turns. There's a similar video on youtube. I'll try and find it.

I see you shut down the build thread on the RX-8 forum and nothing's been added to the Isuzu forum since 2013, is there an active build thread somewhere?
