You handled it admirably.. I'd like to think I'd be as even-tempered with him if I were in your shoes.. My dad tried desperately to instill the "Do what you say you're going to do" lesson into me, and if I'm being honest, I don't think it took until well after 24 :(

Hopefully he is a good kid, and this helps him to become a good man.

Unbelievable. You handled it well. I hope he really did read that in front of his dad. And I hope he does get his [PooPoo] together. It sounds like he does great work. He should do well if he can meet his deadlines.

Baby girl called me this morning. She totaled her car on the way to work. First words in rapid fire were I had a wreck, I'm ok, it was my fault, I'll pay for it

Wifey Dearest had already called ( Baby Girl always calls Mom first... makes me a little sad) and given me a chance to put on my best Dad hat.

I reassured her, told her it's just a car and everything is going to be ok. She's fine but her nice little Mazda 3 is toast. Airbags deployed, roof has an upward crinkle

Faith in young people greatly restored today.

On another note part 2.
Back to the Ortho today. Shoulder is coming along nicely. I'm doing my stretches and exercises.
NERVE PAIN diagnosis - compression between C5-C6-C7 There's basically no space showing between them in the XRay
Comapred to pics from 2011 big difference

Turns out this is one of the main complications of rotator cuff repair in guys over 50. Age plus gravity plus your head hanging like a sack of potatoes for 2 hours while they do the work.
Starting a steroid pack in the morning. If that doesn't do the trick, then we'll have to look at more drastic measures.

damn getting old sure sucks, but it still beats the alternative

Just an FYI, they are putting teflon discs back in the place of the organic ones that restores your height and won't dry out with age (the reason most get thinner). I'm sure there are restrictions as to where & when, but definitely don't take the first opinion when checking out back Docs.

I'll be doing some research before anyone cuts on my back or neck.
Dr Patel in the ortho practice that Ive been using is good. He's trained quite a few, but I haven't decided if he's my guy or not.

I'll start with him, then get a second or even a third opinion

Nothing much happening here at Too Busy Garage. The Boy was home from college for a month before he started a summer internship at IUPUI (Indiana & Purdue) in Indianapolis. He kept me busy helping with small projects on his Focus most of my weekends.

Last weekend I was back on the race car project getting things done. Right now the plan is get the race car driveable before going back to the Mini later this summer. I've decided I'm not in a major rush on the Mini. If I can find a left drive rack I'll switch it to make it easier to move on down the road at some point.

things I have done.
I decided to paint it myself. This will be another backyard spray job, so I'll be sanding and buffing out bugs.
I've got the subframes cleaned, patch welded and repainted ready to install. I have a set of lines for the hydro shocks on order. When those come in, it will get turned into a roller to make it easy to move around for paint.

let me know when you get ready to paint the mini, I'd like to come down and give a hand if you need an extra set of hands.

Glad to see your back at it again. What year is your sons focus?

Thanks Josh - will do. A spare set of hands is always nice during an event like painting or a motor install.

The Focus is a 2007 SES hatch. We picked it up from Craigslist a couple of months ago for a great price. Since then tires, motor and trans mounts, brakes, fix the console / armrest, and a new stereo install.
I tried to get him to clay bar it and give it a buff, but no dice. I guess that will be in august during the seek before he heads back to Clemson.

This past weekend in Indy was a hoot. I think we were the only folks there not for the 500. We went all over downtown with no crowds, no rush, no worries. Took a trolley tour of the city to help The Boy get oriented.
Baby girl came down from Chicago for the long weekend with us. It was great to have us all together, even for just a couple of days. We won't have them together again until Christmas at Grandma's house.

I'm shopping Craigslist and ebay every day looking for small bits for the Mini.

I bought a 64 Traveller basket case I'm getting back together. It came with some spares. If there's something specific you need let me know and I'll see if I have duplicates. (I have two racks but both are RHD - sorry.)

Trying to decide how much more I want to do on this project. Feeling a bad case of the might as wells coming on. Scope creep tends to kill projects.

Project creep will strike no matter the size of the car

I've been having really good luck with Mini Spares out of the UK. Shipping has actually been pretty reasonable and the exchange rate has been working in our favor.

I'm in the same boat for interior. I think I priced it between $3k to $3,500 to do it right. I should just pull the trigger and get it ordered before the exchange rate gets worse.

Were you looking at Newton Commercial as well?

I've been looking at Newton and Mini Spares.
I have the original seats, but they aren't going back in the car. They'll be available if one of you guys need them.
