Long time no progress update.
SO here's a general update on house stuff, work stuff, and life in general.
We sold the old house and closed without incident. Well, almost without incident. On the final walkthrough the wife started bitching and moaning because we took down our curtain rods and shower curtain. My first response was F them, read the contract, they got everything as stated in the contract. My realtor decided to give them a gift card to make the wife happy.
On the new house. We're moved in but nowhere near unpacked. I have the garage wired, insulated, and drywall hung. I even got part of the seams taped and mudded before we had to clear out the garage at the old place and just quickly shove stuff in the new place. That means that sometime in the not too distant future I have to either empty the garage to finish drywall or move stuff front to back and side to side to work on a section at a time. Original plans were to do some of the work this past weekend but Mother in Law and Baby Girl both came for a visit. Great fun, just zero work on the house completed.
On a positive note my electrician came by yesterday and installed the breaker for power to the garage. I FINALLY have 120 amps to play with over 5 dedicated circuits. There are three 20 amp 120V and two 30 amp 240V. I can run a window air conditioner, welder and plasma cutter all at the same time if I want to. Not that it will ever happen, not now I don't have to drag drop cords or plug and unplug tools all the time.
BTW If you haven't priced big copper wire lately IT's EXPENSIVE
The A Mod is still parked in a friends garage 40 minutes away and I haven't touched it, heck I haven't even seen it in a month. I still haven't been able to figure out what starter bendix is needed, so chances are pretty good that I'll be fitting a different starter and building a bracket to get it aligned properly to reduce wear and tear on the bendix. Still NO CLUE as to what to do to the carbs either. I talked with a local 2 stroke mechanic and he gave me carb settings that I'd already tried and failed with. He thinks I have an intermittent spark issue with the MSD box. he also suggested that I do a leak down test on the motor before I try anything else.
Turns out that a leaky crank seal can throw off all my settings and make it impossible to tune.
So that has me shopping on Craigslist on a regular basis hoping to find a wrecked superbike or a motor kit for a fair price. In hindsight I never should have sold the other A Mod project and GSXR motor. I should have taken the $6k offer I had on the SR powered 7 and had plenty o cash for building the other car.
Hindsight is 20/20
Solo season is here so I'm beating the snot out of my daily driver 318ti in H Street.
