The Toyota T50 isn't *that* little. Hot rodders Down Under used to fit them to various V8s before the Borg Warner T-5 boxes became available. A friend bought a bellhousing from New Zealand(?) and used it to put a Supra T-50 into his '65 Mustang. Then he put the Supra's IRS and front end into the Mustang too, but that's the sort of thing that happens when you have a plasma cutter, MIG welder, and beer.

TRX,
Are you sure it was a T50? I was under the impression the guys down under were using the W series 'boxes. The T-series 'boxes were never fitted to Supras, but were fitted to Corona's, Carina's and Corolla's.

I looked at the W transmission that’s a nice transmission it’s really a strong one. I wish I could’ve used it

I know for sure it came out of a Celica Supra, because I helped pull it. I always knew them as T50s, but if the Toyota guys call it something else, I won't argue.

Whatever the correct designation, it has been behind a four barrel 289 in an autocross car since 2003.

The W50 was in the Celica for a few years - might be thinking of that.

I feel lost this month. the weekends evaporated. January has become a must do month. a lot has to happen. I found myself agreeing to have the car in a car show end of March. The N.E.W. Motorama got wind of my car and asked me to have the car in an unfinished category, new this year for the show. How could I refuse. Should be interesting.

The question then becomes, "how much cleaning are you willing to do?"

There are some guys here who probably rub all the parts with steel wool every time they finish working, just to keep everything shiny. I fall into the category of "why worry about rust until paint time" myself...

I know what you mean. I am kind off the steal wool guy but only 50%. My hubs have surface rust on them, I may wire wheel them and paint. we'll see. mostly everything has been painted already. Just have to do some dusting.

So my fenders came from the UK. A brilliant and talented Martin Batho makes them.
I also started making the inside snap in curtains. I have never attempted sewing before this. My mom gave me her old sewing machine a very long time ago. Glad I hung onto it. I was told at the sewing store I could buy her most expensive machine, ( she said with a gleam in her eye), "it is expensive". Sewing this vinyl would turn it into a pile of twisted plastic. You need that old machine. Sweet off I go. I spent all day Tuesday with it getting it set up and going. cut out a rough pattern and then today turned out a piece. Its not so bad once you get going. Same stuff tomorrow as we mush on to the finish line.

Cool stuff, Steve! I had the need to sew a prototype out of heavy material for something at work a couple of years ago. Our old machine at home was being fussy so I bought an inexpensive Singer...it just wouldn't cut it. Then found out we had a high end Bernina at work (that cost x10 what the Singer did) and it was glorious. Back to the store went the cheap Singer.

MORE STUFF!! Man these guys put out a nice product. I ordered them with trim so they are long, but you get the idea. I have plenty do do for next week. This sure beats the hell out of going to work.

It's probably to late now. But you might want to consider using plastic or fiberglass for the inner panel backing board. I've had to use a shop-vac more than once to suck out the gallon of water [small swimming pool] in the interior. Dave W

Dave are you referring to the vinyl panels I made? There just snap in vinyl. No backer board at all. Easy this way.

I know!! I might make it. I didn’t want to say for sure I am going and not make it for some reason. Right now I have 85% chance of making it. My big question mark is tuning. The car will be done. It’s early in May that’s why I question.
