The one popping a wheelie is a highly modified Cushman and very different. I do have to pay attention pulling out from a stop and turning because the rear suspension is not independent, so the inside rear wheel spins easily, but no wheelies for me!

I'm enjoying the Gazelle build.

Sorry if I missed it, but what are you planning on doing with it once you've completed the project? Just curious as its a rather odd vehicle.

I plan to drive it for a while. The mpg is excellent and it doesn't take up much space.
I may sell it eventually. They typically go for about $4000.

Hey MiataV8,

Great work on this. I recently picked up a 2008 go4 interceptor III from the NYPD auction and was wondering what kind of foam you used for the seat? and is it comfortable? Whenever I saw these around the city I always thought a small bench seat would work better than that single driver seat.

Please check out and chime in on my new thread /viewtopic.php?f=36&t=19303

I would greatly appreciate your wisdom and input on my project

I was searching google for go4 and this popped up. I've not been to this site in a couple years. I'd be happy to take a look at your build log.

My seat foam is standard density used in furniture and available at most fabric stores. I think it is 2lbs per cubic foot. It is a bit too soft for automotive so it has to be thicker at the bottom. The reason I didn't use the best density foam is because it is very expensive by comparison and most places don't stock it.

I'm not sure when, but I replaced my cooling system with a low mount civic radiator and fit a late model vw expansion tank at some point, since this thing was getting hot very quickly above 50 mph due in part to the high radiator position behind the seat. I'm currently fitting a basic progressive 2 barrel carb and 323 vac/mech advance distributor, aluminum 8 gallon fuel cell in the rear well to replace the steel 6.5 gallon under the seat and external fuel pump. The coating on the original tank did not hold up well at all to the ethanol. I'd also been through several fuel caps as the seals kept cracking. I'll post some pics of all this eventually.

Found a few pics.
001: $60 worth of festiva smogged intake and carb to be reworked.

005:First change to brake pedal. I've since redesigned the whole thing on both sides of the front wall for more travel with a mazda 323 master cyl with larger bore.

006: steering lock for towing backward on a dolly. Bolt screws into block through hole in steering wheel. Otherwise, can't tow with any wheels on the ground.

004: Domesticated with cup holder, rearview, side spots that swivel, no outside mirrors. Headliner has 1/2 styrofoam layer above it.

002:basics setup with civic rad, biggest high amp fan that would fit it, vw expansion tank, wiring still in progress in pic.

001: Cut and weld lower coolant neck to work.

It took a few mods for the 323 distributor to work. The mounting ears are about 160 degrees apart where the festy us about 60, due to water neck clearance so I removed the lower mounting ear for clearance. The dizzy had an extra sensor for #1 cyl so i removed that. The module is integral to the pickup. The dust cover is required to seal the cap, otherwise there is a big gap between the cap and body so I modded the old one to work since they cost about $20.

I fit the fuel cell with a roll over valve at the high point, tossed the foam which had a lot of loose particles, adapted to An8 from 10 for the pump outlet elbow that accepted 5/16 hose that steps down to 1/4 at the fuel filter since they come with 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8 fittings. I have to fit a new exhaust hanger since it was in the way of the tank and ordered a festy aircleaner to mod since there is only about 2.5 inches between the sidling top and the carb inlet. Reusing the carb vent sol, anti diesel sol, and electric choke. The various vent lines are just plugged for now until I am satisfied with the ports I'm using. Fabbed an egr block off also. The carb throttle shafts were seized with corrosion. It looks like the carb is fairly new but it sat with water in the bore for some time. Pulled the base plate and fixed that in part with an ultrasonic cleaner. This is a vacuum secondary 2 barrel. Removing the extra wiring.

Added a pic of the police version.

More pics. Also had to make a new throttle bracket and tap the valve cover for bolts along with rerouting the cable. Still need to fab front tank hold down. has flanges at the rear.

Hey MV8!
I realize you're deep into mechanical restoration and stuff... But I was looking at your Meter Maid-Mobile with the blue frame and white body panels and wondering how it would look done up in... Ohhh... Purple and green? Or red and black? Or a bright blue and green? Or... Well, you get the idea.

Perhaps I shouldn't have watched that Indy Car race with all their outlandish color combos. But, have you thought about colors for the finished product?

They've been painted many different ways, but I'm partial to red, white, and blue.
