Anyone care to jump in and analyze this chassis, kinda explain why certain things were done, the good and the bad?
It belongs to the Donkervoort D8GTO

Did you have specific questions about it?

I am going to be stopping in to this thread since I'm building a donkervoort based car myself...

Yes, thank you.
The chassis obviously differs from both the locost or Haynes roadster's, especially in the area aft of the seats, where the shocks and rear end are integrated into the chassis.
There are also different sizes of tubing, and if you look at the bottom rails at the cockpit areal, there are dual rails ... one of the many deviations from the locost/Haynes. The D8 chassis is obviously more sophisticated so my question would be how/why it deviates from the original Lotus chassis.

Analyze it how? For what? Can't see enough to judge its torsional rigidity.

Not aware of any "bad" when it comes to Donks.

I've been doing a chassis design similar to a donkervoort and 90% of the stuff from the donkervoort chassis that I've integrated into mine adds to it's structural rigidity.

2x1 Beams in the passenger compartment: Much more rigid in the case of a t-bone. (Also why I think they added the pipe at a 60-70 degree angle vertical towards the outside, near where a persons knees would be)

This image should show what I'm talking about a bit. Also it looks like they triangulated the back end much much better.

Indeed. There appears to be more thought given to driver/passenger protection, and area where the Locost chassis is woefully deficient.
Are you building to the same dimensions - wheelbase, etc.?

As similar as possible yes. In my build thread you can see my chassis design... the rear end will get changed know since I've seen this.

Yes, I've browsed your site. Very nice. I'm following.
The D8 GTO wheelbase is 2341mm/92.16in but stretched slightly on the latest models.

I am not sure what kind of jump you want us to take. The D8 GTO is a different car to begin. 3, 74 m long, against 3,3m for the seven. Width 1,85 m versus 1,72 with the seven. Just about everything is different including the length of the engine bay (to accommodate the in line 5 cylinder Audi engine) and the design of the cockpit. But the main thing that I think would be needed for a useful conversation is the actual dimension of the chassis components and material used..

I only have respect for the work Donkervoort has done over several decades. His own R&D has earned his company tremendous rewards on race tracks, for instance with a race version of the D8 they managed to beat several times any one else on the track, including Porsches. I would feel out of place to suggest any criticism of his cars.

Thank you, I'm planning this week to start laying out the back end. If you'd like I could start making drawings for all of the tubes and piping, this way you could get an idea of the size difference vs a book or 422 chassis.

I'll also incorporate a couple FEA pictures when I can.

Yes, drawings would be much appreciated.

First shows all together, second only shows the bottom. Remember this is my frame design so it's not 100% a donkervoort frame but it is close dimensionally.
