THREE WHEELER FRAME IS COMING TOGETHER
The Morgan 3 wheeler is coming together. Got a lot done today. It is looking more and more like a finished frame.

It's looking good! It would look even better if you attached photos the old-fashioned way instead of linking them through Photobucket. If you search the word "photobucket" on this site, you'll find associated words like "fiasco" and "shenanigans" and "blurry" and "watermark", all in all it is not a preferred format for locostusa.com and your pics are so pretty, we'd hate to lose them.

You could reduce the weight and make it stiffer and stronger by framing directly between nodes (suspension load points from control arms and coilovers) to the backbone/tunnel as primary structure, then adding just the bodywork framing needed and some minor crash/parking rash/bumper protection but it looks like you are already following a specific plan.

If you tack everything in instead of fully welding as you go, it is much easier to make changes if you happen to paint yourself into a corner.

I'll try that with the photos. It will have coilovers front and back. And anything I'm not 100% on is tacked in, or just not installed yet. As it sit now, I think it weighs about 50-60 lbs, just a guess from picking it up. Going threw today and tomorrow finishing, and cleaning up welds. Then shoot some etching primer on it.

Working on setting some nuts into the frame for the front crossbrace. Made up the frames for the rear swingarm section, And cut floor templates.

I like to weld in blind nuts too. Curious about the wood template. I guess you are going to lay up a carbon pan?

It's actually plastic cardboard, and I'm going to use them to trace onto aluminum diamond plate(preferred) or plate aluminum, depending on availability.

The diamond plate won't lay flat to the tubes without grinding and will be much heavier since it only comes in heavier gauge than what is normally used for flooring. I suggest aircraft spruce at FFC (day trip since shipping is awful and get rivets while you are there). They usually have the best prices.

Cut it even with the out board edge then roll the thinner sides around the bottom to hide the corner. .050 3003 sides and/or .080 full soft 6061 bottom (fit heal boards so no oil canning or flex where you step in and out). Probably cheaper than your local steel supplier who probably get his metals from ATL or consider .050 steel for about $50 for a 4x8 sheet and no heel boards needed.

May want to limit the floor to the inside so water at the rear doesn't drain down to the foot well and use separate pieces at the rear if you want an aero underbody.

I understand the extra work, and is why I also am considering the sheet aluminum. Using body adhesive to seal it to the tubing, and using aluminum boat trim on the corners.

Using 1/2 x 1/2 16 gauge to form these two sections, Made a quarter round to form the corners, and welded together.

Verifying seat height measurements, dash height, and cockpit area, before I continue. I know the cardboard looks cheesy, But, I LOVE IT!!!

Looks good. I can see the flow without the CAD. I like the removable cowls. Don't forget to add diagonals at the ends of the tunnels. While a 3 wheeler doesn't twist the chassis like a 4, it will be much stiffer and stronger if you add a little tubing at the firewalls.

You need to slow down. Your making us old guys look bad.

Well, I'm officially a senior citizen today....
But I will be adding diagonals with pillow block bearings inside the tunnel. it is only tacked right now.
Plus solid plate accrossed the front and large square at the rear of the cab.
