Damn. I just knew if I clicked on this thread, I was going to see a painted body. And I was not disappointed.

Thanks guys for the kudos.
The boy unwrapped it today, should have it back in my shop this coming week. The fenders and lower front end go to the paint shop next.

Well I'm back in the shop after a bit of a hiatus. The boy brought the car back yesterday evening.
Thought I was done committing fabrication, but not. Today I made up a dual purpose piece, it holds the spare tire in place and can be used as a wheel chock if needed. Also made the wing bolt that holds it down.

I also did some final installs. Gas filler with rubber mount gasket. The wiper pivot bezels and washer nozzles. The soft top front trim and gasket. Soft top belt hold down (a belt goes through this and around the soft top when it's down to hold the top down when traveling, wouldn't want it ballooning up like a parasail when going down the highway!). Finally I installed the sun visors. They are off the shelf plexiglass glare reducer visors that you would clip onto your existing visors. I just machined a couple of rods to adapt them to the OEM visor mounts.

Thanks guys, yeah the boy has the magic touch with body work, sure as hell didn't get it from me.

Another day in the shop. Again I had to commit fabrication. Made up a standoff for the license plate (actually made it yesterday and painted it, was dry to install today). Once mounted to the spare tire boot cover I installed the locks in the cover and installed the boot cover on the car after gluing weatherstripping around the opening. The Fiat pattern for the Italian license plate was a little large. Test fit my dad's expired plate on the car, stood back looked and scratched - either the plate looks big or the car is small.

I then tackled the soft top. Installed the bows, bow joiners, and soft top. Happy with the results. Some pics as I walked around the car.

Coming along beautifully.

That's also a very fine B17 hanging from the ceiling!

Thanks. Regards to the B-17, that's Sentimental Journey. She was put in storage post war for a bit then did some mapping in Manila and in 1950 got transferred to Florida. I guess what I'm getting at is that pic is not correct, this Topolino and Sentimental Journey did not cross paths
To the shop today, put the doors and associated hardware on including weatherstrip. Installed the side vents. Some pics.

A little bit of an update. Last Thurs we had our 2 Dachshund pups spayed and are very busy with them trying to keep them calm  to prevent them from opening up the wounds. Have to also keep them separated cause they're dogs and you know, dogs will lick each other.

I did manage to get out to the shop for a couple hours this morning whilst the pups were having their morning nap. I agonized for 3 days about having to mount the side peep mirrors. The way they should be mount by grub screwing the base to the door lip wouldn't work because the door edge/body gap was too narrow. So I had to drill a hole in the new paint on each door :ack:. Well long story short I got er done this morning. Mirrors are mounted with rubber pads between mirror base and door to save the paint.

Got a text from the son, fenders have body work done and are primed for paint. The insides have been rock guarded.
