Locost-passenger foot rest ideas???

Just did a track lapping session last night (what a blast)
My passengers complained that there is nothing to brace their feet on. Any suggestions?

(At least they have a grab handle on both sides)

can you share a pic of your grab handle? I have been thinking of adding one to my car.

for a foot rest, I think a piece of steel bent at about 30° would work and it can be bolted through the floor or off the end panel of the footwell. The issue I see is not all passengers will have the same length legs so for some it could force their knees into the dash and others wont reach it comfortably unless you come up with an adjustable one or your seats are on sliders.

A step/footrest of some sort was my first thought as well. But, as noted, taller/shorter passengers could be cramped/not reach; if you have a fixed passenger seat.

Mine has a fixed passenger seat (at the moment, undecided if I want to add a slider to it), so not sure how I'll tackle that when I get to that point.

My Miata seats are on sliders, so that's not a problem.
My two grab handles came from a Nissan Pathfinder at the Pick[img][img][/img][/img]-N-Pull. I liked them because they sit fairly flat and pull out to use.
I hope that the photos come through. I mounted one handle on the tunnel, and the other on the right side of the dash

For riding, my wife used a 2x4 just resting on the floor up against a step in the floor. It was just right for her.

I slightly more elegant version of Chucks 2x4. I have pounded people around race tracks and not had a single issue.

I whipped up a mock-up out of wood. I'm leaving it unattached for now, so that I can remove it easily for tall people. I may just use this and attach some scrap aluminum checker plate to the face. I eyedballed the angle, then measured, it was almost exactly 30 degrees from vertical

More elegant? I take exception. Mine was stained and varnished. Plus it was quickly removable for people with longer legs.

I stuck my battery in the passenger footwell. It sort of limits passenger footroom for taller passengers though, but it's not that bad.

And then there's a reason why you don't want to put a foot rest in the passenger side.
