FAQ - How the FAQ forum works. PLEASE READ THIS

Post by dhempy »

This section is great for newbies, and also a good index for builders seeking a particular answer.

In these threads, you generally won't find the answer spelled out. More often you'll find one or more links to other threads that answer the question more fully. Hopefully, this will cut down on the same old questions from being rehashed over and over again. (e.g. "How do you cut those funny compound angles in the nose?")

This FAQ is a community effort. If you see a question that appears frequently, and you know where there's a thread on LocostUSA (or on another site!) that answers it, PLEASE post a link to the answer here. Feel free to add links to an existing question, or add a brand new question when appropriate.

The site admins will do a fair bit of tidying to keep the FAQ orderly. Your post may be merged into another to keep the FAQ concise and useful to everyone. But the admins depend on the entire community to contribute to the FAQ, so please help keep these questions and answers up to date.

I see a lot of info on this forum about building the build table. Could we bring a "How to build a build table FAQ" to this section of the forum? I'm about to build a small one for little projects so I can start getting a little experience under my belt before I start building the frame.

Thanks gents,

I am having problems logging on and accessing pages. The message pops up

Resource Limit Is Reached

The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later.

I have to refresh dozens of times before it finally pops up.

Bob, I've had the same problem. Two solutions; I almost never had this problem while I was connecting to the interweb with a corporate line (50+ mbs, and whizz, bang fast- it could almost readmy mind!), I', back to a 2mbs line at from a friends cable tv connection, so the problem has returned- often using a different browser (changing from Chrome to Mozilla Firefox ) will get me on.
Let there be no restrictions! More pics from your "mancave" and it's creations! Chris

Bob I periodically have the same problem and it's not related to how I connect or what browser I use. Many times it's a sign the forum's about to go down or have serious problems.

All my other browsing will be full speed ahead and then suddenly this forum goes into rush hour traffic mode or goes down to 1 lane from 5 due to a wreck ahead.

admin!

i think the first thing to show members is how to post links to other posts and other sites that one would need to use as reference.

the next thing might be how to post pictures, ie. what will and what won't post and where from.

and with regard to Bobs question, since the site changed servers, the "accidents" have been happening but what can you do, its a free service to members and you always almost get what you pay for. in defence of this, its an excellent forum, one of the best on the net, full of very helpful information for serious builders of alternative vehicles with in depth technical stuff and simple solutions to what seem to be insurmountable problems to the novice.

mamy members have become addicted to the site, i have tried to leave it alone due to the very problem you discribe among others like can't log on, posting on other sites but there really isn't any other site quite like this one.

How do I complete my profile? When I click on "profile" at the User Control Panel I get a blank screen that hangs.
Thank you.

I don't remember the details off hand, but like many other forums, I know this one has basic controls in place to help ensure people signing up are intending to be members of the community and not just signing up to spam the site. I thought it was somewhere in the 3-6 post range that unrestricted the account. Perhaps try the 'contact us' button below to get assistance from the mod team directly.
