Locost 11 R1

Here is where the build logs go for non-traditional build logs. Mid-engine, three wheelers, you name it. If it's not your typical Locost it goes here.

Walt, you can also use a wire marker booklet. It has self adhesive numbers ( 0-9 ) you wrap around the wire. All you need to do is build a legend to help identify the numbered wire.

That's what I use.

Thanks, that gives me a wide range of options. I've used the number markers a long time ago, but for complex labeling (many wires) you then need an index for function.

Merry Christmas to all out working on dreams ! Should have put some Christmas lights on the car. My bad.

Not much today. Still working out things.
Got some bulkhead fittings but think I will just go with gromets ?
The Deutsch fittings can be pulled apart to help with going through gromets .
See photos. They were just to big.

But I did get the master switch hole drilled.

Depending where the tank is and if you drive on the street, my biggest worry would be getting rear-ended and crushing the tank. "Worst case" is that it splits and sprays gas into the passenger compartment. Dark thoughts, but you did ask. In such a situation, I'd almost want the fire suppression nozzles pointed at me (if non-toxic), or at least toward the back of the car. It's a big reason why I placed my tank laterally behind the seats, but I didn't have that nagging drivetrain and differential in the way, being mid-engine.

Did you put one in Kimini ?

I get the problem with the fuel tank. But most Lotus 7,15 are that way ?
Hell, the car is so low they would just drive over me. LOL That is what my Wife does not like about my 7. 8)

I did not (other than a fire extinguisher ahead of the passenger seat on the floor), rolling the dice of chance. I meant to add that if you plan to mostly track the car, then I'd have the suppression system in the engine compartment, as being rear-ended on-track seems far less likely than on the street.
One thing I used to read about justifying a Seven's safety on the street is, "I can both avoid accidents better (swerving) and out-brake them." That last one, I'm not so sure about. Modern cars weigh a lot more, but they also have ABS, so it's unclear if it's true. But let's say that it can out-brake everyone. That means the Seven is stopped - ahead of all those other cars that can't stop as fast...
All this means is to drive extremely defensively, especially being wary of people moving over on you, as happened to me several times. Just have to be ready for it.

Looking great, the wiring is such a chore but done right you have a lifetime to enjoy it (whatever is leftover anyways!)

Think I will also add a USB port over on the Passenger side. Some where I can get to it but out of site ?
It will be in the door opening.
