No, which one is that, now I'm really curious.

I'm not sure who you're talking about the only Elise owners I know are ex S2000 guys

Randy Chase, founder of Elisetalk.com,announced a few months agothat he and his parter had signed on as the US importers/distributor of the Toniq.

Well, it's different.

I like the cockpit and I like the rear better. The rear has always been the weak link in the 7s to me.

The front, well, it's different.

The sides look more finished than most.

Overall I'd give it different rather than ugly. Of course I haven't seen one in person either.

For the longest time, I felt the same way. Now I like it because I can appreciate the beauty in its simplicity.

The thing that has always bothered be about the back of the 7 is the rear fenders are stationary while the fronts are mounted to the upright so the fender gap above the wheels never matches front-to-rear. The Tonic took the approach I (very briefly) toyed with which is to mount the rear fenders on the rear uprights. - But alas I still like the homely yet loveable rear end of the 7.

--- and for all those just waiting with the Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V keys to quote me, "I still like the homely yet loveable rear end" applies only to cars.

It just looks unfinished to me. It's like the designer died before he could finish the car.

Died huh? Not, 'left the company' or 'got bored' or 'ran out of time', but died? I see how you feel. :)

Just wondering, what's the limit the DMV gave you on building cars? I'm sure it's different in each state. I'm in college for teaching, and am considering spending my summers off (ah that will be so choice  ) building a Locost or two, if I can fit it in. Just wondering what the state thinks of home building and selling cars, though this is just an idea I would love to know where to read up on this. DMV website is garbage...

Partially it is Federal limits and partially it is state limits.

In Texas there are no apparent limits. I have heard scare stories about some of the states. Look at Factory 5, they build quite a few.

Federal law has some limits, far beyond what an individual could ever reach, before you run into crash testing, etc.

If there are no kit car companies operating in your state, maybe your state is one of those with onerous requirements.

Most of what we are individuals would build would be covered under several exceptions to the rules as home built or replicas - thank you SEMA.
