Kick ass. My only problem is my garage ceiling isn't high enough to accommodate a lift like that :( For something like a seven, that would be awesome to have. All three vehicles I have right now are Jeeps with lifts, so I wouldn't need it anyway

It shouldn't be, it bolts in the floor with pretty beefy bolts. They even provide the stress limits on the bolts on the website, a nice touch.

How much is it?

Harbor Freight has something similar for about $2K. They have some other stuff for lifting cars too. Search on "lift". Always wanted one, but it will probably stay that way.

Ok now THAT IS SCARY! The saying is "everything from Harbor Freight eventually turns into a hammer". I'd sure hate to be the thing struck when their lift turns into a hammer. I do not trust HF hydraulics as far as I can throw them. My 12 ton shop press from them barely lasted through changing the bushings on my Miata's suspension before it leaked like a sieve.

I just saw the picture of the guy rolling it around. I thought you just roll it into place and put the car on it. lol

(4) 1/2" expansion anchors are enough to hold a 3300lb x-ray machine to the floor during an earthquake ;) . (5) 5/8" expansion anchors, on each side!, should be enough to hold a car in the air :D . Even though only 3 bolts are actually used, the inner two are backups - even says so in their structural calculations.

But what happens when you roll your 3000lb+ SUV onto it and, not having any idea where the CG is, lift it way off-center? The higher it's lifted the longer the lever arm is trying to pull half the anchors out of the floor. I bet the pulling force could be enormous.

I'd bet you'd notice when the SUV starts leaning and falls off the back of the lift LOL

In all seriousness, every lift I've ever worked with is setup the same way and bolted to the floor on the same size floor plate. This setup is nice because it is portable and you can move it to another part of the shop when you don't want your spouse ramming into a giant unyielding metal pillar when she pulls into the garage.

45" is just high enough to be useless.

And for basically the same price you can get a real lift.

I think a lift would useful for big cars, but not needed for a Locost. I use a pair of metal saw horses for my FF. THey work great, they fold up when you aren't using them, you can put them different places if your needs change. I don't remember where I got them, but would expect the regualr suspects.

I lift the car with my engine crane on the roll bar. For a Locost you should be able to work something out. One of the great things about an open wheel race car is you don't even have to walk around the car to work on both sides. A Locost is basically the same thing. THe height of saw horses is great for working on many things.
