I've been thinking of building a haynes roadster, even bought the book and read from cover to cover 4 or 5 times but I just found a picture of something I really like.Tried to use sketchup to mock up something like,turns out I really suck at that sort of thing,there must be some on the forum who is good at CAD modelling who might be interested in rendering (is that the word?) something similar ,maybe even more practical .as an incentive we could name the plans after you,hey you could be the next mcsorley famous but not rich(not that I know his bank balance) anyone willing to take a bite?

It might be beautiful, but look at the the drive line angle, and where is the roll center??

I think it is one of those "it looked good on paper"

All I see is rear view and a bare bones chassis so I can't see enough to tell if it might be beautiful or anything else about it.

*yawn* I designed a car in jr. high school that would do 0-60 in 2.1 seconds, max out at 170 knots, and was solar-powered. We didn't have CAD back then, so I just made a few sketches instead.

Short instant centers aren't unheard of. You will just get larger values of camber gain versus a suspension with longer instant centers. I'm more curious about the rear geometry and what is driving it.

Don't rear end anybody while driving it unless you want to be decapitated! That nose gets pretty low. I think the front upper arm angle was a styling constraint to keep the nose so low. There are always compromises I guess.

Okay...I gotta admit, I'm oddly attracted to those tires. I got to thinking about painting the treads of my street tires. Drive them a little and the contact area would go back to black, leaving highlights in the grooves.

Speaking of grooves...I googled for "rubber paint" to see what might be appropriate. O M G. I think I sprained my humor when I scanned down to the 4th or 5th search result. After two minutes of uncontrollable laughter, my lovely wife came in to see what trouble I was in, and then she couldn't stop laughing either. So for the love of God, do yourself a favor and PLEASE DO NOT google for rubber paint.

And just to add some relevant content, the front suspension doesn't bother me. Looks like the belly pan has a built-in bump around 1.5". As Chuck cited (I think) Chapman, "Any suspension will work if you don't let it."

This type of tire actually exists. The manufacturers put dye in the rubber in certain areas. Makes colored smoke from what I'm guessing, plus you can "mark" your enemy's territory I suppose, if I cared about such things.
