I got this from Modernbeat (Jason) late last summer, the only mod we've done is added a set of street wheels and tires to the package.

Here's the original ad:

http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3979

Price is $7500, or leave me the street tires/wheels and take it for $7300.

I bought it 'cause we (Kinetic) had some promotional things going on where I felt we needed to show that Locosts could be fast as well as efficient--our only demo at the time was the 32 horse fuel-sipper--but as it turns out the TV folks are happy to point their camera at our green machine, and when it comes to selling performance, I'm preaching to the choir when I'm talking to locosters. So we've decided this money would be better used to increase inventory.

I've put half a dozen miles on it, and it's everything Modernbeat said it would be.

I've had two off-list queries re how big a driver this car will accomodate. I PM'ed Jason and he sent me back this reply...

>>>
You can honestly tell them 6'3", 235 lbs, 38 inch waist, 34 inch inseam, size 12 shoes, and I had to put a little padding behind the small of my back. All that and I still came in below the roll bar.

Show them this pic of me driving to show how I fit in the car.

JRM
>>>

Amazingly it turns out he and I are exactly the same size...if all you count is waistband.

Here's the pic, cropped and compressed a bit.

Nah, too much other stuff to do right now. I'm still tempted, though.

I think that quote is a pretty old one (from ModernBeat's ad, perhaps?), I've been thinking anybody who wanted this as a stret car would probably want to do the streetifying themself, to save money and to have the finished product best suit their taste. But maybe it would be easier to sell with license plates. We can sure do it, but it would turn it from a $7500 car to an $8500 car, 'cause we'd have to buy insurance to get it registered, pay registration and plates for two years etc etc. I'm willing , though, if that's what someone wants.

A Woodward custom racing rack and pinion, with changeable ratios.

still for sale?
do you know anything about implications when shipping something like that across the border?
I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba...I would want to get it here, then put it on the street. (would rather do it myself because of the "safety standards" they have specific to our province)...and i also know a fello who may turn a blind eye to a few things :)

The next question is (and quite possibly a question for the border) would it be shipped as a "car" or "parts or an incomplete car"....does it have a VIN yet?(if it doesn't, it might be a good thing....i think :? )

Hey Jack, I'm guessing this new topic should have been a reply to your FS ad.

It's VIN-less at present.

I'm going to ask a moderator how to move this topic over to the existing topic re this car (and Jason, thanks for the heads-up).

Mod edit- Merged topics. 5/26/09 3:52ET

I haven't logged into locostusa in...oh, at least a year. And the first thing I see is the car, for sale (thousands of miles closer than it used to be!), that got me interested in locosts in the first place.
Jack, I'll give you a telephone call. I'm in CA, and it's tough to register a homebuilt here, but easy to bring in an Oregon-registered car, so I'd be looking for some help in getting a VIN and an 'escort' to the DMV.

...Sure hope my current car sells fast!

The original link to the detail photos has become unstable, so I've rehosted them in a Photobucket album.

Nice car,
What shocks and spring rates does it have? I like the 3 link rear.
