I have been considering similar to the AGM-WLR Sportscar. Being in California I must have an approved windshield. I have asked around including the current manufacturer of the kit and the only best guess is that it is from a classic Mini. This is not exactly a "locost" option at over $300. Any ideas? A WEB search for "AGM-WLR" will come up with a number of pics.
TIA
Tony

I dunno, but nowadays, $300 is an average price for a windshield.

You might consider a '74 or later VW Super-Beetle windscreen. Available new for $200 and up. Salvage prices start around $50.

Great minds think alike. Two of the windshields that I have been considering are the Super Bug or KarmannGhia. It is not so much that $300 is too expensive but rather too expensive for a "try and see". One other option is that I like the idea of learning something new while doing a new project. There are number of videos on youtube showing how to cut a windshield. I don't see any "rocket science" so maybe cutting down say a windshield from a Miata would be the ticket. Local Pick-a-Part charge $36. I have also read that used windshields are a bad idea to be cut. Have not been able to verify if it is true or just legend.

I used Lexan in my California 7. Not approved and prone to scratches, but the inspector missed it, and I ran it for years.

David Hempy had a solution that worked in Kentucky. Besides, of course, going to an inspector that just didn't care. Might wish to ping him here?

I settled on a NA Miata windscreen. Prior to that, I noticed that all of the airbag era screens are pretty much the same angle and shape, only varying on size. Which of course you can cut down so long as you keep the DOT stamp (which sadly is often where you wanna cut)
