Are you doing polished ally, or paint on this one?
Hey Lonnie, this one will be polished body with painted fenders and nose cone.

I can't quite figure out the pop rivet tapered punch. I would have thought that a flat bottomed punch would have done the job. For my build, I continued the wrap around just enough to have the pop rivets past the horizontal tangent so they wouldn't be above the top of the wrap.
I've done that also Chuck but I wasn't happy with the 'spring back' when shaping the aluminum around the tube. The way I build the top 'wrap' is the last thing I do so I can't remove the aluminum to tighten up the top wrap. To clarify the rivet, I made a bunch of them on my anvil with the punch, then I drill my 1/8" holes and bevel them with the 17/64" drill then pop rivet with the recessed rivets. This approach seemed to tighten up the top wrap

Perry, I bought some counter sink rivets and was very disappointed in the quality. Yours look really good. Never thought about making them. Well done Sir!
Cheers!
Thanks Larry, there's always something to learn on each build.
Out to the shop this afternoon, grabbed the construction paper and made a side panel pattern on the DS. Reversed it and low and behold! it fit the PS! Made my day. Transferred pattern to the aluminum sheet and started cutting and trimming. Couple of pics
