Ha ha ha Lonnie! That's exactly what JD would say  How-some-ever, when I look at the Berk I think of Dolly Parton's song 'Coat of Many Colors' (even though in her prime I don't think she woulda fit in the Berk even with the steering wheel removed). But it's still nice to try and picture it

I think I said this earlier, I really like the look as it is. Rat Rods are in vogue right now. A coat of matte clear would be terrific IMO. Since you have a couple of bodies, maybe leave one body as is and have the other all spiffed up in its Sunday, go to meetin' clothes. It is you car though. Do what makes you happy.

I hear you guys.. I get it- the 'leave it ugly'/'make it pretty' dilemma.. Way back in college I had my pride and joy '53 F-100.. I daily drove it for 17 years; 10 of them were the 'ugly' years, and finally I restored it and enjoyed it 'pretty' for 7 more years.. Both states had pros and cons, but in the end I preferred having it shiny and pretty (Nobody was giving love for 'Patina' 30 years ago, but as you know, times have changed).

For now, I like having this rough body on the Berk because there is ZERO stress over damage or even hacking on it as I wish.. I simply can't hurt it. I will be making an effort though in the next 60 days to get a 'nice' Berk body on this car.. It won't be finished or restored (yet), but the plan is to make it a bit cleaner than it is now.

..For grins, below is a picture of me and Lisa, and no lie, ALL of our worldly possessions in the bed of my sweetie, ugly F100... We had to move to go get 'real' jobs as we had just finished college.. The pic is from 1992(?).. Hard to remember the year of the pic; that truck moved us 12 times in 10 years back then, chasing my broadcasting jobs..

The truck is long gone, but the wife is still here.. later this month we celebrate our 30th anniversary :yay:

Excellent photo. Congrats on the 30 years. Love the sneakers with ties and suspenders. Clearly, you were a man ahead of your time.

Too bad about not having the truck. Probably worth $60K in that same form now.

Cheers,

There's 24oz spray-paint cans now, any color you want as long as it's white or black.

They've got a super wide spray pattern, so may be able to do the entire thing in three passes.

Those were the days, weren't they? We had nothing but dreams back then. Today, I couldn't fit 1/4 of my garage stuff in that F100 let alone all of our "stuff". If I'm lucky and she doesn't leave me, wife and I celebrate our 48th later this year.

Man I totally agree. On another note in 3 days it'll be 40 years for wifie and me.

11 years in July, here.
But, I imagine I'm the 'young-un' around here.

Please do paint it.
I cannot really express my disdain for the "Rat-Rod" fad without offending too many people.
I went to one RR show and will never attend another.
Worst of all was the RR "Creative engineering", a lot of which was truly hair-raising.
Still cannot unsee the welded chain radius arms! :ack:

The body needs a lot of work and any paint added would need to come back off. The body has gel coat stress cracks all over that have to be addressed without paint in the way.

Love the 53 F100! y son had a 64 F100 after high school. And I think the description is "F-ugly"

My bride and I celebrated our 36th in April Especially proud in that it is a 2nd marriage for both of us!

My all time favorite Berkley was in white. Looked like it could have been a sneaker from a professional basket ball player!

Wonderful long relationships enjoyed by some of you guys.
I tried it twice - failed twice - decided not to risk it again.
Instead, found myself in a "partnership" that has so far lasted almost as long as the two marriages put together...
I'm not jealous... lol
Good luck all - and stay safe.

It's so cool to hear you guys jump in with your years and stories.. So many times I hear about couples- friends, coworkers our age (early, ahem, mid 50's  ) who's relationship didn't make it.. It makes me sad.. we're so bless to have each other.. I got lucky with this one

6-11 to 6-17, 2021

As the sage Alice Cooper once declared, "School's out for summer." Several things are on the agenda this season.. First up, we've decided to go ahead and let the Volvo 1800 go to it's next steward. I need to go through it and tie up loose ends and detail it. I know it's because of Covid, but I haven't driven it much in the last year, and now that the Berkeley is a runner it seems a good time to let it go.

We also own a 2017 Ford Escape (salvaged).. it's not pretty, but it's got super low mileage and it fits out family's needs. I took a gamble when I rebuilt it, and it's come to bite me in the ass.. I thought the front impact had left the AC condenser intact, but the wreck did in fact puncture the unit, and I'm just getting around to replacing it.. Got it all back together and went to charge the system, but wouldn't you know, it takes r1234yf refrigerant, and my AC gauge fittings don't fit the service ports.. So I'll pony up the 150-ish needed for these bits and get it done. The nice thing about living on the coast is we almost never use AC out here :D (I say that with no ill will to the 2/3 of the country that's currently suffering triple-digits).. we lived in HELL (Bakersfield, CA) for almost 20 years... I've done my time in the desert, even if it is a dry heat
