One of the bikes has been reduced to Engine, Swing arm and its mount. Sadly the mono air shock was rusty, when I chipped away the rust it started leaking oil, scrapped. I'm going to get an aftermarket coil over if the second bike has the same problem. |

After tidying up my workshop I started cutting wood for my build table. With his permission I am copying Spike's design. |

My workshop floor was originally a car port and slopes in two different directions. Building the table will allow me to have a truly level working surface. |

Copying is the most sincere from of flattery. Don't obsess too much over perfection. Does that engine have points or electronic ignition? There probably is a drop in aftermarket electronic like pertronix you could install eventually and a rebuild kit for the carb that makes it compatible with modern ethanol blends. Since this will be a car, you might consider low cost auto airshocks or vw bug coilovers. A used ford ranger two-piece driveshaft with carrier bearing along with the spare honda driveshaft would provide all the reusable parts to build your shaft with a little machining and welding. |

Thank you, I have two GL500 bikes/engines, both with electronic ignition. Going to use a YSS mono shock and spring on the rear end, That way I can change the spring rate if necessary. Have two WaWa gas stations selling ethanol free gas, I use it in certain authorised aircraft. |

Excellent! I've put chevy ignition modules on 80s Japanese bikes with no discernable issue. This was done because the replacement OEM modules were ridiculously expensive. The chevy 4 pin module is around $10 these days. I despise ethanol. I don't have anything new enough to be designed to cope with it long term. I run nonethanol whenever available for many reasons. I don't have a non-eth station nearby so I've equipped my mowers with fuel shut off to empty the carb bowl at shut off which minimizes problems. I've seen a few rotax 2strokes seize in flight as a result of using it to save a couple bucks. |

I have a personal rule not to fly anything powered by a Rotax two stroke. |

Rear frame, swinging arm and mono shock fittings cleaned, primed and painted. |

Built the first table beam today. I built the workshop side table a few years ago to hold auto stuff when work was in progress on the BGT and the 948. It paid off for this table build. |
