I think the idea is: in the NC MIATA, the trans shifter is vertical, the engine is rolled at 10 degrees. In the Focus, the engine is also rolled similarly. If you try to situate the shifter vertical and the engine vertical (based on what part of it ?), then yes, the holes don’t align. I would think that if the MIATA engine could operate rolled at 10 degrees, why not the Ford ? They are the same block and bottom end. The Focus oil pan will be different (for transverse) but should work fine. When I mated my 2008 NC 6 speed to the 2010 Focus, they fit exactly. However, guessing at more performance oriented clutches, when I installed it with the MIATA flywheel and clutch, the Focus starter was interfering and binding at the flywheel without trying to be engaged. The simple solution was to swap it out for the MIATA starter, and Bob’s your Uncle.... I used a MIATA clutch slave, too. When I acquired the Jenvey throttle bodies, they were offering a set of 45 ITB’s for the Duratec 2.0 liter that had a curved intake rolled at 10 degrees , in case you were using a Mazda NC transmission . I wonder if the Caterham that uses the Duratec is using this same setup, or if they just kept adapting the traditional T-5 Ford. Anyway, that’s my take. I’m leaving my shifter and transmission plumb and square. It would probably be fine either orientation, but yes, they do bolt together nicely. Cheers, Skidzzz
