Geez Perry. Guess I havta to 'splain myself.

The BVI has no natural source of fresh water. Thay use roof top cisterns a lot. Was at a bar/restaurant having a cheeseburger in Paradise. Waitress asked if we wanted bottled water or tap. Being a true Locoster at heart I chose tap water. It was so salty I couldn't drink it. When the wind is blowing and the swells are big there is a salt spray in the air and it gets in the cistern. Stuff rusts a lot there.

Perry, if you are pouring a slab and putting a 'cistern building' on top, have you considered the alternative? A couple of big concrete septic tanks, perhaps not fully buried with a simple 'building' over could be more cost effective, especially if the base of the tank gets below the frost line. Do you still reckon on a 4 ft frost line in AB or is it deeper?

I will go quiet now - but no, I close by saying that our cistern water is great tasting. A 5 micron filter and a UV sterilizer keep it clear and safe. Better than a drilled well in NS where heavy metals are sometimes an issue.

The bends are made by an experienced 3/4" bender I bought off eBay for $25?, can't remember. It has a 4" radius bend and bends 3/4" .065" like a hot knife through butter.

Lots of hockey tape here , I could send you some, postage shouldn't be that bad, curling rocks might cost a bit more for shipping

Front fender stays 90% done, because I'm using steel fenders on this build there is one more brace I want to add for rigidity. Some pics.






It seems that I've come to a point in this build to send the fenders and nose cone to the "Boy" for splashing on some color. We've decided on Atomic Orange. He disassembled a Harley this winter for a customer and painted it Atomin Orange. I'm still wiping drool from my chin. This is what he does......

Color makes me hungry. Looks like candy apple red (flat gold base, lot a clear mixed with a little red and pearl) without the red.

Thanks Larry, yes the Boy has the gift, he sure didn't get it from me........I paint just like a baseball game, a few hits, a few misses, a few runs, and a few errors.

Yep, it's bent me 4 Super 7's and a Topolino, doesn't owe me a thing.

Fantastic color choice.
I'm leaning towards a shade of orange for mine, but a ways off from thinking about paint.

Yeah, I'm likin' that a Atomic Orange a whole lot. Just remember, any policeman is going to see your 7 a mile away. Prepare to be good.

Thanks guys, that color is definitely an eye popper.

Nothing update - the temps here have been warmer (above freezing) so have been doing yard work, prepping for the pump house/cistern build, and doing odd errands.
Been 3 days since I've been in the shop working on the Slant 7, getting a twitch in my left eye and starting to get a bit jumpy (cranky). Could be withdrawal symptoms??
Will have to confer with Capt'n Morgan

Wouldn't be the first time I landed on my arse because of slippery flooring. 2 months ago I drove the Rubicon into the garage, opened the door, stepped out........when I opened my eyes I was lying on my left shoulder on the garage floor wondering what happened. Got up and walked it off, took a couple of days



Today I made it out to the shop without falling down. Mounted the completed front fender stays for the last time.




Fabbed the tube from the VC breather to air filter and put it all together.



Then I fabbed the hood hinge bar that marries the scuttle to the nose cone. I was pleasantly surprised that all my measurements taken at the beginning of the build turned out correct and there is no interference between the air cleaner and the hood hinge bar





Walked around the 7 and took some random pics just to use up the film in the camera, you young guys will have to google 'camera film'




So I've come to the point in this build where I have to break out the construction paper and start making patterns for the body aluminium. And thats all I got for today!

EDIT: I've got an email out for a quote for another 2 wide mount nose cones, I must be crazy....
