Lonnie's neighbor phoned me today with some very sad news that stunned me.
Lonnie had a massive heart attack Feb 24, he did not make it.

Thanks for sharing. That's super sad. We had never met or even spoke with each other, but in the back of mind, I was always planning on driving the few hours down the coast see him when I finish my 7 sometime in the next five years.
Damn, that hits hard. I met Lonnie once back when I had Midlana at the Del Mar Hot Rod show, he came up and introduced himself. Just... damn... I sent him a heartfelt letter after his wife passing away, and another after his dog passed. I wonder what'll become of his car project, as I don't recall him speaking of kids.

Thank you Perry. I never met Lonnie in person but would have been honored to.
Though he never got to drive his car I know how much he enjoyed the process of designing and building, and not least, how much he loved this community.
God speed to you Lonnie. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Sad news indeed. I've been a fan of Lonnie's Build Log and we've been commenting on each other's builds for well...years... Dang! He will indeed be missed!
Cheers, Tom

Really sad to hear that news, but glad to know the situation. I sure will miss his posts, and am absolutely gutted as he was getting so close to finishing.

That is actually heartbreaking news. He had seemed to recently gotten back to a normal life after several hard knocks. Will miss seeing his progress on the car. And always his gentlemanly way of posts.

Yes, it is very said. I had a feeling that something is off, since he did not post for quite a few days. I was hoping to meet up with him, when both of us would have finished our cars. I'm wondering about that myself, if he has anybody to take care of the house, car, etc. Why the neighbor answers?

My name is Josh and I am one of Lonnie's neighbors. I see you all have been notified of Lonnie's passing. Unfortunately, no surviving family is interested in his amazing Locost project (only an older sister, no kids). We would love for someone with the same passion to take over the project to its conclusion. The project is extremely organized and documented with detail account of almost every step completed or still left to do. Lonnie left behind a complete road map to completion.
