Well.........you pays your money and you takes your chances

Beginning of April I decided to buy a midsized truck. Reason? My 2010 Nitro kept plugging the heater core, I was tired of changing it out. So I traded it in on a 2012 Nissan Frontier. What sold me on this particular Frontier was it had one owner and only had just over 60,000 miles for the year.
Test drove the truck, no issues. I says I want them to put it on the hoist so I can check the undercarriage, no problem he says, I'll come get you when it's on the hoist. Well shame on me, I shoulda said I want to be there when it goes up. When I did get to see it 15 minutes later everything looked good for it's age, exhaust had some rust, oil residue by the oil filter, shocks dry, nothing leaking (yeah right).
Anyhooo, made the deal, I says 30 days warranty? Guy says nope, vehicle is over 10 years old, no warranty.
2 weeks later I noticed an oil spot on the garage floor, wtf? Nice clear red trans fluid :BH:
Pulled it in the shop, jacked it up, crawled under and there it was, oil dripping between the bell housing/engine :BH: Must be the torque converter oil seal.
Fast forward to yesterday, out with the 7 at 6pm, in with the Nissan, quit working on it at 11:30pm.
By the end of today I got the transfer case lump on the floor, hopefully tomorrow the trans will be on the floor.
What a convoluted friggin puzzle, you have to take a half a dozen other things apart to get at what you want to take apart.

I'm beginning to think that I'm getting to old for this sh!t. But I'm too cheap to pay someone to do it

Transmission is resealed, installed, and test driven = success!

Today was an easy day on the 7.

Installed the Guardian bell.

Well the transmission reseal was not a success. I ended up putting a used transmission in. I believe the leak is from a casting flaw. Anyhoo, its all good now.

Today I went out to the shop this afternoon. Began polishing the scuttle.

Fabbed up the windshield washer thingy on the lathe and plumbed to the windshield washer pump.
Installed and commissioned the heater hoses.

Anyhoo, no build updates but I cleared out a spot for a 40' sea can. Why you ask? Because I have too many damn 7's! There's no more room in the 7 stable (my airplane hangar). Getting a load of gravel Friday, going to build a level pad, then go to the city where I can pick my 40' sea can for $3500, delivery around $400.

Soooo, been a while since the last update.

Got the sea can spotted on my gravel pad. Had some help to put 2 Super 7's ( the first build and the 3rd build) into the can along with 2 motor cycles, and snow mobile and several RC airplanes.

Super Slant 6 Super 7 update.
Bought some POR15 header paint. Sanded the header, degreased, and gave the header 7 coats of header paint. The baked the header at 400°F to set the paint.

Polished the DS and PS aluminum panels. Will do a final polish when the time comes.

Fitted and installed the front infill panels on the DS and PS.

Next up it's grillin' time.

Went out to the shop yesterday for a bit. Said to myself, "Self it's time to get grillin'"

I found a pattern that I had used on previous builds, this saves a lot of time making a new one.
IMG_7820.jpeg

I then cut and polished an aluminum trim bezel. Then cut some expanded metal mesh, primed and painted it. Test fit both with cleco's.
IMG_7821.jpeg
IMG_7824.jpeg

Was happy with the fitment so I attached the grill with SS screws.
Done grilln'.

Nicely done.
I'm planning to do the frame for the grill from 3/16 steel rod, the cross "lines"(Caterham style) from 1/8" round bar, the grill will be painted the Union Jack using a stencil. Similar to the new Caterham CSR 20. Red or Orange 7 behind the grill.
I will weld some threaded pieces to be able to mount it to the nose.
You have a very nicely shaped nose there. I like the color as well. I will be going with a Lamborghini Viola Parsifae color, stripes on the bonnet and at the rear.
Something like this:

Thanks Tibor, looks like you will have a very nice looking grill, looking forward to lots of fab pics. I like pics :D

So today was an easy day in the shop. Mounted the nose to the frame for the last time, hopefully.

Thanks JAMADOR, my son painted a Harley this color for customer. When he sent me the paint pics I showed wifey, we decided right then that that was the color for this 7.

Fabbed up and mounted the centre SS hood hinge. Some pics.

Even I'm considering that style of hinge/hood setup. Still thinking about it to do it, or not.
What you have riveted to the nose cone? Left and right from the yellow tape.
