I'm sure you will get her fixed.

One of the best EE's I know, has his BS in Physics.

Ha! THE best auto mechanic I know has his PhD in physics...
It's a long story, but if he tells you "it's not rocket science", it's a professional opinion!

Turns out I worked at Space Telescope inst. for years. Yes Rocket science.
We always said we should be able to figure this out it's not rocket science!!
Wait a minute!!! yes it is. Pretty geeky bunch.

My alternator problem is my charging light is not hooked up. Turns out this provides
the initial current to get the alternator charging. Simple fix. I'll try it later

Charging problem is no more! I hooked a 10 ohm power resistor to the wire for the charge light
(other end goes to battery feed) 14.2 volts now. I need to do a permanent install with a light too.

Working on the alternator I grazed my arm on the hot exhaust I have nasty burn on the inside of
my right forearm. I 've done a little work but not much been very busy and dont want to scrape the burn.

I got a new underdrive crank pulley as a little treat for my car. Beautiful aluminum 2 groove
with EDIS mount. Stock dead harmonic damper( no need in the least for this motor). weighs in at
get this 8.5lbs!!! new one is 8oz drives everything at 75% of stock saves a little HP at
high RPM. I still have 14.2V at Idle and cooling is fine. The Volvo pump cavitates a bit
over 5k (so I've been told).

OK so here's a short movie from today. My wife was holding the baby and my neighbor was doing
the video. He messed up and didn't get any more of the car  I came back by and did a really good launch
but the camera wasn't rolling.

I'm going to get the aluminum sheet next week. I'll order it tomorrow !!!
I'm going to work on the seats an seat belt mounts this week.

I have some small leaks at each end of the crank. Seals will need replacing.

Just picked up a Ford EDIS 4 ignition for use with Megasquirt. Really nice, It can be used as
a standalone if you can make a circuit to control the advance. Controlled by a pulse length
on one of the wires.

There are huge debates over the consequences of removing the OEM pulley. It's not about static weight balance, it's about the "ringing" that occurs after each cylinder fires. There's a fair amount of evidence that doing so will, over "X" miles, cause the crank bearings and/or oil pump gears to fail.

Here's one thread that refuses to die: http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=70848

I had one in my hands and ended up selling it. To me, it wasn't worth the risk, especially after a Jaguar drivetrain engineer told me they alway use them, even on their race cars. The net conclusion seems to be: Remove at your own risk.

It's meant to damp crank harmonics true. Most volvos never had it replaced
in which case the rubber is hardened and it's out of balance anyway. People have
have 100K plus miles with the pulley on 250+ HP turbo motors with no issues on the B230. Straight sixes do tend to have more issues with harmonics than fours.
In any case, it's not really a concern with this motor

I decided to get rid of the craptastic header and make one that is tuned for the motor. Some calculations
showed the chopped crappy turbo header would have very poor low and midrange power. Pipes too large
and short, the collector is real garbage.

So I decided o build a header out of 1.5" 304 stainless. I had the very nice Burns collector
from a really cheap Ebay snag. (it's a $375 piece fro them). I talked with them and the
collector (which was for a GSXR1000 race bike) is perfect for the modded Volvo motor.
I do need to get a larger transition. it only goes to 2". I will add another section to get to 2.5".
I have some straight tubing on the way to finish the header. The end will be about 2" shorter
since I didn't take the exhaust port length into account. The primaries are within 1/4 in of each
other.

Here is a link to some videos of my first/second drive. Thought I posted this
but I didn't. My wife was all about the blinkers since all the systems are fully functional.

Headers look good so far. Where did you buy the cool looking collectors?
