RESTO-MOD 78 SPIT, GM V6-60/T5 FORD IRS/IFS

Here is where the build logs go for non-traditional build logs. Mid-engine, three wheelers, you name it. If it's not your typical Locost it goes here.

Weather and an injury slowed my progress this month to a crawl but mostly recovered now. Alodined and painted my new timing cover and a better pic of the alt brkt.

Front frame mods mostly done;middle horns and rear to go. Drivetrain back in to make engine and trans mounts and fit the bolt on cross member to clear the oil pan. All leveled for now and high enough to allow angle changes if needed. Good time to mock up my driveshaft angles. I'll probably need to lift the output a bit with the pinion down. Shooting for 1.5 deg or less at each joint. I have plenty of drivetrain room now. Hopefully not too intrusive on the driver footwell.

I have a gear reduction starter I used for a while on the 4.3l in the fiero that should lighten this a bit more.
Here is a tip when using a hoist to position a few hundred pounds of drivetrain by yourself on uneven ground. A porch rail 1x1 x36 is great for leveraging the hoist legs to move where you want them to go.

Redesigned the engine mounts and shortened the dip stick and tube. So the level stays accurate, I shortened the dipstick the length cut from the tube minus the lap weld near the handle of the dipstick. Mounts are 1/8 strip with two extra layers to bring the left mount pad level. Trimmed the dodge truck mount flanges off the pax side for if I wat to drop the pan without pulling the engine. On to the trans mount and removable xmember under the pan, or atleast what I can do from above until I flip the frame. FYI, mounting pads on the block differ depending on year and model.

No. I was referring to the v6-60 in general. They have changed the mounting boss number, height, and locations over the years. The 3.5/3.9 are different from the last few LA1s, which is different from an LNJ, etc. My point is no one brkt will fit all v6-60 blocks but I think mine would fit any older than 2000.

Thanks!
The s10 shifter had a scew on extension shaft above the boot. I cut the female threaded section out of it, then drilled and epoxied it into a cue ball.

Made the trans mount crossmember with exhaust hangers.
Fabbed the lowercoolant pipe. It will be part of the rack mount. The rad is 1.3" and the timing cover is 1.6" so I used two sizes of pipe.

Caught a bug and haven't done much. Tore down the rack, fit the tr6 joint to replace the spit rag. Started mocking up the pinion location. A little more difficult with the body off but I think the intermediate will run parallel to the crank just below the exhaust manifold with only the tr6 joint, a vw buggy unit and the original column clamp.
Pinion is going to be fully horizontal and the joint will bring it back to parallel, but otherwise pretty close. Once the pinion housing is located, I'll know how narrow I will make the housing and how narrow I can make the rack.

My 7/8" sway bar saddle mounts had been used as curb stops and were nearly ground through. I decided to fit standard saddle mounts from energy susp ($15) and new plates on the frame that can take more abuse than the original parts. The rack mounts will stay original with urethane bushes I already have for it for now.

Hope you are feeling better. I was been bitten too about 2 weeks ago. A couple of days fever and cough and just felt $hitty. Mostly gone now just a lingering swollen throat that I just can't kick yet. I did manage to get out in the garage yesterday and today.
