Perry's S10 Super Se7en the 3rd

Post by horchoha »

Well I thought I'd be able to hold off till fall but I've got the bug to build a Super Seven Cruiser, again. For those of you who don't know me (and some who wish they didn't), you can read up on my bio on my first build or second build, I can't remember (I'm past 55).
The donor is a 97 S10, 2.2L, 118 HP, 5 spd, 130 ft/lbs torque, curb weight 3100 lbs. Again my build style is to use as much of the donor vehicle as possible, it can be done. I've decided to start demolition of the donor while there is NO snow on the ground.

003image.jpeg

I started buying some stuff for the build. I've purchased my bucket seats. I can't use the S10 seats because they're a 60/40 split bench and it would be too much hassle to convert them to 50/50 buckets.
001image.jpeg

I've ordered my Energy Suspension bushings for the upper and lower A arms, Panhard bar, and remote shifter. Also ordered my Harley bullet front signal lights, and a couple of wide noses.
004image.jpeg

Deciding whether or not to use PS. The S10 uses a box so I'm looking at a powered Chevette rack. I'll be using Alden Eagle coilovers, 275 lb 12" for the front and 175 lb 13" for the rear. Frame will be 1" .065" sq tube. The frame width will be determined by the seat width, pinion offset, tunnel width, the amount of Capt'ns Spiced, and rim offset. If I can get the finished weight in around 1500-1600lbs this should be a snappy little ride.

Oh no! Not again! . . . . just kidding

I was definitely hoping to finish my first one before you completed your third, however. I'm not kidding about that. :( You're really starting to make me look like a slacker, Perry. Oh well, I is what I is, and that's all I is.

Cheers,
Damn! That front slip angle is way too large and the Ackerman is just a muddle.

I kind of like the profile of the S10 without the box, makes it look even lower to the ground and somehow sportier IMO. I almost went with an S10 donor as it makes alot of sense, good luck on this one Perry.

Where did you get those nose cones, I have one similar and I really like the flare along the bottom and sides?

I absolutely refuse to allow you to complete three cars by the time I've finished one, can't happen, guess I've got to get to work on mine.

As always, build it to how you'll like it, but I wouldn't complicate it with PS, especially if your trying to keep it light.

No, Lonnie, you're not slacking, you're just doing 3 years worth of extra work. maybe 5. ;-)
don't feel bad, Perry makes us all look like slackers

Hold on now... Don't go givin' Perry too much credit, his hat won't fit right. I was a slacker long before I knew Perry.

Another first class build from a stand up guy! I can't wait to watch this one Perry; I've been watching for a good s10 donor since you were so kind as to answer all my questions about using a chevette. I look forward to copying shamelessly.

Whooaa now, hold the phone. No one here is a slacker, you guys just get more entertainment value out of your builds, that's all.
Another thing you have to consider is that we have winter here, long winter here. And another thing, my kids are grown and gone, there's just the wifey, the weiner dog (Miss Fergie), and myself.
After the dog I come first so that gives me lots of quality build time

Trochu-The cones come from C.O.L.D. located in British Columbia. If you want his contact info let me know.

Thanks magu, hope this build helps you out.

And Gonzo don't flatter yourself. If you look up the word slacker in the dictionary you'll find a picture of myself next to the definition.
Actually if you also look up Capt'n Morgan Spiced in the dictionary you'll see my picture there too

Actually I think the picture there is a group shot and it'd be hard to pick you out unless it's a big picture.

Not much to report. Demolition stage. Scrapped the PS rack idea, using a manual Mustang II rack. Hope the General and Henry get along, wouldn't want them fighting on whose doing the steering when I'm the nut holding the steering wheel.

If you squint can you see a 7?

Progress, always a good thing...
Every time I see a V6, out in the open, I'm surprised at how small they look. Good choice, Perry!
