i was cruising on my motorcycle forum looking at the new posts and found this. looks pretty nifty and made for street bikes or atvs so it should be more than road worthy
http://www.trailtech.net/computers.htmlmost are priced $129 which i thought to be cheap for what it does and includes needed sensors. didn't see the dimensions but shouldnt be very big since marketed towards the bike/atv crowd. just thought it'd be interesting to someone

I have one on my 1982 Goldwing. It works well but the temp sensor that comes with it is just a thermocouple ring, for a wet sensor you need to buy the sensor and the correct adapter for your application. Also the ambient thermometer seems to have a problem with being mounted near a dark surface, on a sunny day it always reads in the 90s-100s no matter what the actual temp.

Neat but it won't go with my vintage decor. Thx for the insight Idsgeek.

I have one. I like it for the Speedo and LOVE it for the water temp sensor (mine is in the heater core hose)
the tach sucks. I cant get mine stable. Below 4000rpm its ok but above that its garbage!

I've got one on my '78 Honda CX500 and love it. I plan to add one to my Locost this spring. Jack at Kinetic has one in his diesel powered locost I noticed too. My tach works fine - did you do 10 wraps of a spark plug wire?
Also, trailtech is wonderful to work with. I bought mine on ebay from an authorised dealer. I told them my bike, but they sent the wrong size temp sensor. I called trailtech and they sent me a new one for free, and told me to keep the old one. Didn't need a receipt, proof of purchase, serial number, or anything.
Oh, and here's the eratic tach answer:
Q. Tachometer is erratic.
1. Make sure there is a good ground - either frame or behind one of the CDI bolts. The positive connection should go under the spade terminal of the orange wire.
2. If both positive and ground are well connected, disconnect the power lead and test again. If this corrects the problem, swap the polarity on the power lead.
